Last summer (2015) my wife and I had the pleasure of staying at the Tally Ho Hotel for two weeks in the middle of the season. The accomodations we had at the Tally Ho were terrific, comfortable, cozy and just what we needed. We especially enjoyed having a balcony facing toward the wooded area and away from the hustle and... Be warned that owners of Tally Ho at the Chautauqua Institute seem to have no standards. Case in point - Tally Ho: dishwasher broke the second time I used it. AC was out for the two hottest days of the week. Check in was delayed by the fact that I couldn't locate anyone at the restaurant when I arrived at... More

Went to week nine at Chautauqua and didn't know the "lay of the land." What a mistake! The beds were horrible, the bathroom tiny, bedroom was tiny, and the place felt like it was furnished at Goodwill. The couch was so gross we put a sheet on it to sit. The bedspreads on the beds were also disgusting and should... More

The owners seem to be running a bait & switch scam, advertising package deals and then reneging at check in. After confirming our reservation 4 times they totally botched our room then tried to substitute 2 single rooms for a 2-bed apt. that was part of the package. Also tried to renege on parking & meals that we had paid... More

This hotel can be okay according to some of the reviews. But don't take the chance because you could end up like I and my friend did. They made a mistake with our reservation and never apologized. The advertisement promised parking, meals, and housekeeping. We had to make our own arrangements for parking and insist on being reimbursed, we had... More

Room was very nice with a nice outside porch for sitting and enjoying the air. Bed was very comfortable and although I didn't use it had a small fridge and a microwave installed. I had a great time here and it was so convenient to all the events at the Chatauqua Institute. The food in the restuarant was great....I gained... More

Yes, it was very cheap. The total cost of $1,900 gave us 2 gate passes, parking and room for 7 nights. Oh, and 3 "meals" at the restaurant. Yes, it is a series of buildings that are over 100 years old. No, it does not have the "Chautauqua charm". It has ground in dirt. Our queen efficiency felt and smelled... More

We stayed here week 2 (2015) and loved everything about this historic building. Its decorated with charm and reflects a bygone era that simply cant be replaced. Chauautaua has only a 9 week season and you will not find a Hyatt or Hilton here. the charm of the place is its old fashioned demeanor and quality. Also the tally ho... More

Chautauqua is a great place to visit: great lectures, cool weather, lots of activities, but do not stay here. We could not open our windows due to the kitchen smell; especially sad with the cool mountain breezes. The bed was so awful that my wife and I had to take turns to get a good nights sleep. The owners tried... More

We really should have followed the reviews and avoided this place but since figuring out accommodations at Chautauqua was so confusing, we thought we could handle this place. This was one of the worst places we ever stayed in. Chautauqua should step in and force them to follow basic hotel standards. We got the room we reserved but met 3... More
