I stayed at Le Refuge last week, on a mid-week night. I was a little worried about the place when I read some of the previous reviews, but I needed a place to stay on City Island and Le Refuge is the only one! My stay was wonderful. The service was excellent and the room and common areas were clean,... More

In order to be in the Bronx area for several days, I booked a room reservation at Le Refuge. The Inn itself is quite charming. The staff at Le Refuge is very polite and accommodating. One thing to be aware of is that there is no staff onsite during the night after the restaurant has closed. Aside from the room,... More

When we arrived for check-in, it was clear from the start there was an overall lack of management for the bed and breakfast portion of the house. We were given a key to our room, which we were left to find on our own. When we opened the room door, we discovered luggage and clothing already in the room. The... More

I was invited to give a talk at a medical center in the Bronx and my hosts made a reservation at La Refuge as it is close by and they typically host a dinner for visiting speakers at a nearby City Island Restaurant. I didn't think much about it as I've stayed at B & Bs before. I arrived around... More

My wife and I rented a Zipcar, and drove to Le Refuge directly after our wedding, and we couldn't have imagined a more perfect getaway for our first night -- just a quick 30 minute drive up the highway from Manhattan. After greeting 190 guests, we had no energy to drive further. The Inn, much like City Island itself, has... More

I was disappointed with La Refuge. The place needs work! They made us move rooms in the middle of our stay. They told us we would be going to the "owner's suite" so we though...okay not too bad. WRONG!! The first room we had was small but clean and uncluttered. The owners suite was MUCH larger but that was the... More

at first I had a hard time getting a reservation over the weekend, but when monday came they returned my call and arranged for me to come to see the rooms before I committed to the place. When we arrived someone greeted us at the door was VERY nice and professional. Showed us the rooms available and made arrangement for... More

Le Refuge has moved to a new house and is fantastic! City Island has great restaurants and it feels as if you are on Cape Cod. Our bedroom at Le Refuge was large and air conditioned (Room #1). There was a king bed and high ceilings; and we found the shared baths acceptable - - no problems in that regard.... More

I ate at your restaurant in September with my wife, aunt and uncle and probably had the best dining experience of my life. I ate at a lot of French restaurants, I don't think any other restaurant can compare to your cuisine and the staff was so delightful.I will definetly be back in the near future.Thank You again!

I wish that I had read some of the reviews on your site before I went to this place. I'm beginning to feel like my husband and I should never stay in a place that has both a restaurant and a B & B. In this case, the B & B was truly a second thought. We did not feel... More
