I had first stayed at the Carriage Inn 5 years ago. I should have learned my lesson back then, but apparently I am a glutton for punishment. Summary of the first stay five years ago. Our room was up on the hill in one of the cabin type rooms. The very steep driveway was not plowed, but they were nice... More

Booked a room for two nights in advance. Pulled up to the place, couldn't figure out where the hell I was supposed to check in. Ended up banging on the locked door of the bar/restaurant after the 3 employees that were drinking beer in there just watched me wander around the parking lot trying to figure out where the lobby... We were in Barryville to attend a wedding. Not many places to stay. We should have read reviews. Peeling wall paper. Battery missing in smoke detector. Burned out light bulbs. Thin sheets on the lumpy bed. Rust on the radiators. Rust on the bathroom fixtures. An air freshener to help the room smell of must and mold. No phone (no... More

It's a shame, the place is very run down. We arrived early and could not find where to check out. Come to find out you have to check in through the bar area of the restaurant which was odd so we had to wait around until they opened. It looked run down outside and we were wondering how you get... This place was absolutely disgusting. The heat was on when we arrived in mid July, making the room unbareably hot and humid. Within 5 minutes we counted 6 daddy long legs spiders crawling on the walls. The windows were open and broken, making it easy for any low life to break in. I must mention the room wreaked of urine.... More

We stayed here for only 1 night and it was dirty and old with ants on the floor. $125.00 for the night was a crazy price for such a gross place. Don't stay here if its the last place in town. We spent the other 3 days camping in a tent. It was cleaner then staying here. NEVER NEVER AGAIN!!!

2 families stayed in 2 rooms, next to restaurant, for 2 nights. Pros: - good price - nice pool (up the hill, but walking distance) - location next to the river, rafting Cons: - Our room didn't have either clock or fridge, while the next room did. - We were out for most of the day on Saturday and neither... It's a Country retreat. Clean, Comfortable, Quiet. No request goes unfilled. It's the Country so Spiders, Ants and assorted animals live there also! The bar n Restaurant are also clean. Men's bathroom needs remodeling. For a Country Place run by a family I rate it an 8 out of a possible 10..

After reading other reviews it became apparent that my perspective on this place differed from previous opinions. For the price of a room you get no frills, nor did we expect any. The room was clean and the place was dead quiet after 9 PM. The bathroom was in excellent shape and modern and the shower had hot water and... More

Do not stay here. We booked & paid in advance & wished we hadn't. When we arrived we had no idea where to check in. The hotel is right on the crossroads of the only 2 streets in town. There was a woman outside smoking a cigarette & it turns out she was the front desk clerk! Check in was... More
