Our stay was a unique and thoughtful wedding gift, which we very much appreciated. The grounds and house was spectacular, the evening meal was divine and the service was exceptional. The many reception rooms and extensive gardens gave guests a lot of space.

Had afternoon tea today and it was excellent. Everything was lovely and fresh. 5 different types of finger sandwiches, 4 types of pastries and 2 scones each with clotted cream and jam. Delicious. Made to feel welcome. Cannot fault it. Even shown around a little by the Assistant Manager. Highly recommend.

We stayed here for three nights in early August of this year, with two couples. It was our base as we visited many sites in the area: Oxford, the Cotswolds, Highclere Castle (aka Downton Abbey), Blenheim, Waddesden and Stonehenge. From the minute we walked in, we felt so pampered and taken care of. The public rooms were gorgeous and perfectly... More

Stayed here recently for a night in a suite in the stable block. I must say that the setting, the house and grounds are fabulous. A joy to walk around. The spa pool etc is very nice although we didn't try the treatments. Let down a bit by the breakfast which served possibly the smallest piece of smoked haddock I... More

My husband and I stayed here for my 50th Birthday treat having previously visited some years ago for dinner. Upon arrival we were informed that we had been upgraded to a four poster room, this was rather unexpected but very welcome. The room was a really good size and tastefully furnished in keeping with the period of the house. However... More

So pleased we could upgrade these guests to one of our best rooms in the 17 century part of the house, where the bathroom is one of the very few without a fixed shower. More

Four of us turned up on Monday afternoon wanting afternoon tea. I had not realised that we should have booked. Despite this the staff were wonderful, extremely helpful and after a very short wait we had the most delicious afternoon tea I have had for a long time. The service was excellent as was the ambiance. All in all a... More

My husband surprised me with a spa day at Hartwell House and I have to say it was one of the nicest days ever. We made use of all the spa facilities (mainly him, as I am pregnant) which are in the most beautiful setting. After a light lunch in the Spa Cafe, we relaxed some more before having our... More

Visited with my Mum for a spa and overnight stay. Hotel and grounds are stunning. Staff very friendly, welcoming and professional. How anyone can complain about this hotel I don't know, but I guess everyone has different expectations and things that they like. It is not a clinical, sterile chain hotel but a 300 year old house and is decorated accordingly... More

I was given a voucher for a half day Spa with a 55 minute treatment. I thoroughly enjoyed my own company using the pool, steam room, sauna and jacuzzi. I chose an aromatherapy massage. Alice was my therapist. She went through a lot of questions about my health and well being before deciding which oils would be beneficial for me.... More

We spent a gorgeous afternoon here, wandering round the grounds, absorbing the history and decor. Had a lovely lunch in their Cafe, apart from a cantankerous and sullen foreign waitress, but nonetheless, we shall be returning, as it is so nice and peaceful.
