spent 4 days at the lodge. The hosts were unbelievably attentive to each and every detail. The active conservation and promotion of game is outstanding. The building on the Bushmen walk experience is breathtaking. The food was brilliant - tasty, and incorporated hosts of local and traditional cuisine. The game were harder to find however this made way for tracking... More

Deception valley, An area named after a Riverbed that evokes the illusion of it containing water. When thirsty wanderers saw this promising fold in the earth on the horizon, they would deliriously rush towards it. Only to find a dry riverbed that hasn’t seen a drop of water in 15000 years. Despite of the aridity of the Kalahari Desert there... More

This was our first safari experience and it couldn't have been better (except it spoiled us for those to follow!). Lodge is beautiful; food excellent; Wanda, Adriaan and all the staff are just fantastic. The Bushmen walk is a major highlight, not to be missed. We loved the Kalahari, and can't wait to go back to Deception Valley Lodge! More

We had a wonderful 2 night stay in a beautiful chalet, with superb hospitality. The enthusiasm of Adriaan and Wanda to ensure we had a great time was outstanding. As was Adriaan's knowledge and guiding abilities - his game drives were first class. The busman walk is a 'must' and very interesting. Deception Valley was the highlight of our holiday,... More

We were not sure what to expect from the Kalahari, but we were never disappointed. We knew that wildlife would not be as abundant as elsewhere in Botswana, especially since we were there in the green season, but the beautiful landscape, several lion sightings, an abundance of birds, a knowledgeable guide and tracker, and great food made this one of... Even through guests shouldn't expect to see the abundant wildlife that is visible in other parks in Botswana, there is much to stimulate the senses. During our stay at the Deception Valley Lodge, guests saw a family of leopards every day and lions wandering through the camp. There is abundant bird life and the most facinating bird nests. Wildebeast were... More

This was the very first stop on our 8 day safari through Botswana. We loved the staff -they made sure that we felt at home. They even arranged for a romantic dinner for my boyfriend and I - without us even asking! The food was the best we had throughout our entire Safari. The guide and tracker were very knowledgable... It's fun to contrast the Kalahari safari vs other areas. This wound up being one of my favorite lodges. The guides and trackers do a great job. Night time tracking is an opportunity to see animals not usually seen, such as aardwolf or brown hyena. Learning about the bushmen is an added bonus. Stars and sunsets are spectacular, and you... Our hosts and guides were the nicest and most earnest of the four camps we visited. On that point they rate a five. Wild life was not near as abundant here as at the other three camps we visited. The reserve is not that large. For example, when following the tracks of a pride of lions, we had to stop... More
