Chose this as a one night stop on Route 62 on the way from Plettenberg Bay to Cape Town. Rooms are quirky but clean and comfortable, the garden, terrace and pool are beautifully kept, and breakfast was superb. Calitzdorp is a interesting little town, the centre of SA's port industry, and its wineries are well worth a visit. We walked... More

We stayed unfortunately only one night at Portwine Guesthouse, so we would certainly like to come back. It is a bed and breakfast accommodation and both are exellent. We came all the way from Denmark.

This will be our 4 th visit since 2003 to the Port Wine House in Calitzdorp. We love the rural atmosphere of this Little Karoo town, surrounded by magnificent mountains. The guest house is beautiful and the garden and pool area is lovely and wonderful for relaxing on a hot January day. Pierre the owner met us at the car... More

We spent one night at The Port Wine Guesthouse. It is situated in a quiet end of the street facing a vineyard. It has great general use areas including a swimming pool, large outdoor terrace and great lounge area - and the garden is beautifully kept. The room we were in was not large but really clean and the quiet... More

We liked staying there very much. Great breakfast, good ambiance, Nice port in the room for a nightcap. Rooms number 3 and 5 were good. The gardens are beautiful, the historic house gorgeous. We will be back.

I have never stayed in a cleaner place. It was heavenly to arrive after a long drive and swim in a pool in a beautiful garden. The rooms had two four poster beds with white lace canopies. The breakfast was equal perfection - home made muesli and other delights such as a large fruit platter.

Stayed 2 nights with my sister for a wedding of a friend. I was originally going to go to the wedding with my wife so Pierre (the owner) accommodated us in 2 double rooms instead, which was a relief. The rooms were clean and well appointed. Some of the previous reviewers complain about not having a TV in the rooms... More

We stayed for one night on a drive from Franschoek to Knysna. The guest house is a beautiful old thatch building with a lovely courtyard and a charming brickwork swimming pool which was well kept and welcome in the 35 degree heat of New Years Day. The rooms were nice, nothing special but clean and comfortable, although not air conditioned.... More

The rooms are nice and cozy but no bathtub , internet and no tv in thier rooms- these may be good or bad depending on your needs. The breakfast is splendid. The landlord was helpful but not quite right when he told us where to eat the night we arrived. We would have gone to the restaurant that offered ostrich... More

Very warm welcome from Pierre and Marina. Only a few minutes walk from the quirky cafes/restaurants/galleries of Calitzdorp which are well worth a visit. Caltizdorp is a deceptively pleasant town. Doesn't look much if you speed through but if you can take the time to stop and look you'll be well rewarded. Highly Recommended
