Just returned from six nights at Tswalu . Wow - what a special place . As a guest , you will not want for anything the service and the staff are top notch and always a smile .What the Reserve is doing for conservation is truly wonderful - and the Rangers and Trackers are a wealth of information and capability.... Tswalu Kalahari Reserve is, hands down, one of the most unique and stunning spots in all of southern Africa. Tswalu does everything right. From the moment we stepped into Tswalu Air's terminal at Johannesburg International Airport (Fireblade Terminal, also owned by the Oppenheimer family), we knew our experience would be exceptional. We were lucky enough to be accommodated in a... More

We were fortunate to stay at Tarkuni, the private home of the Oppenheimer family on their beautiful reserve. The camp, Motse, was said to be fabulous, as well, but we were content to confine ourselves to the home and the game drives. Unlike our other stops on our tour of the Southern part of Africa, we were treated to two... More

Tswalu was a great place to end our lengthy, multi-camp safari experience. It is less intense than the other camps we visited, and there is far more pampering. Yet, the safari experiences were fantastic, guides and trackers were super, and there were many fascinating sightings. When not on safari, food and wine were very good, and the spa was quite... We visited early April with our 11 year old son, staying for 3 nights and we could have easily stayed for longer. We spent 1 night at the Malori, the sleep out, which we would highly recommend, our guide and tracker helped set up then left us to it, our evening meal was provided for us to cook on the... More

We've traveled many places around the world, and this is by far the best in personalized service with its outstanding staff, from beginning to end. The accommodations are excellent and comfortable, and the food and wines are excellent. Our safari guides were knowledgeable, and passionate about the Kalahari and the wildlife. It made our experience very special, appreciating it's people,... More

This destination is special because of it's typical "green" Kalahari vistas - red dunes , beautiful grasslands , acacias and mountains and big , big skies. There is a good chance of seeing rarely seen mammals such as pangolins and aardvark , as well as many beautiful antelope , rhino , cheetah , buffalo and lion . The game guides... More

Our fond memories of our stay at Tswalu is as plentiful as the red Kalahari sand. From arrival at the private airstrip to our last game drive, the service was above standard - attention to detail, friendly, professional, accommodating. The villa is spacious and comfortable decorated with safari chic, stylish and homely. Food was top notch. Game drives well planned... More

We couldn't have picked a better time to visit (late April) as the desert was incredibly green!!! The mid-day temperatures were quite warm but since you're not out on a game drive mid-day it's a non-issue. The mornings we were quite chilly and we had to really layer up (which I hadn't anticipated). The sunrises/sunsets are terrain were just gorgeous!... More

Stayed in April for 4 nights with our children aged 11 and 13. We had a two bedroom family villa which was wonderful - very spacious and beautifully appointed with incredible views of the reserve from both the bedroom windows and the lovely verandah. Every member of staff are so helpful, friendly and relentlessly cheerful! Our guide, Nicki was so... More
