I agree with many of the comments from previous reviews. This is perhaps not a first safari location. You are not going to tick off the Big 5 in a day, but I think Tswalu has a lot more to offer than this. This clearly was a very overused area some 50 years ago and the owners and management have... Tswalu does many things well. The private plane transport, upbeat professional guides, dedicated lodge staff, hotel-suite level accomodation are all wonderful and make for a great stay. The food is fine. Do not go to tswalu, however, expecting wild and remote. Having been to other "game reserves", I was surprised by how obvious tswalu's man-made/managed reality comes through. Given that... More

I spent 5 nights at Tswalu - The Motse, in September. The leggae are huge and very nicely appointed, comfortable beds, great indoor and outdoor shower and a functional desk. Tswalu isn't for the first timer on safari - the wildlife here is less habituated to vehicles than other private game reserves, and are more inclined to run than ignore... More

My wife and I stayed here 4 nights in March 2014 together with four of our friends. We rented the private villa - The Tarkuni - for the six of us. Fabulous and most beautiful! Superb bedrooms, bathrooms, living room, dining room, outdoor seating area, big pool - everything completely perfect. The service was top-notch and beautifully organised by Melanie... More

We stayed for 4 nights at the Motse in early October and really enjoyed our drives with Juan and Piet. Juan was a very knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide and we were lucky to see different kinds of animals such as a rare desert black rhino, a brown hyena, Kalahari lions, the very handsome sables and an aardvark. We also enjoyed... More

My husband was worried about the cost, but afterwords he said it was worth every penny. We spent 4 nights here and it is a fabulous game preserve. Rooms are spacious and wonderful, food was top notch and so was the service. I can not say enough good things about our guide JP and tracker Ari. One of the really... More

My wife and I spent 4 nights at Tswalu Motse in early October. The lodge and the surrounding game preserve were amazing. The lodgings were beautifully appointed and very well kept. The staff could not have been nicer and were to a person attendant to our every need. As to the food and drink -- they were excellent. I particularly... More

We spent 3 nights here, one of them in the mallorie, wich is the small luxury hut on a red sand dune. This place is fof people who did safari's before and want something different, the rooms are luxurieus, the food is good, the staff excellent and the nature dry, remote but beautiful. Ask for room 6 or 7 in... More

Tswalu is truly the most special place on earth. I don't know if I can put into words how life changing it was for me and for my whole family. I was nervous to go on a safari, but thank goodness my husband convinced me to go. When we arrived at Tswalu I realized it was going to be a... More

A wonderful experience on a secluded reserve. Our guide was superb and had exceptional animal and plant knowledge (we referred to him as the human encyclopedia). Food was great also. The rooms and the overall setting are amazing and really impressed us. Wait staff were pretty good but I didn't get that personalized service I've experienced at other lodges. Also... More
