No words could adequately describe the Tswalu experience. I arrived at the 'airport', a thatched structure (half of which is roof but most is Sociable weavers' nest) in the middle of nowhere, and was driven to a Boyd Ferguson masterpiece with soft natural fabrics and large clay pots on a lattice covered deck with a pearly horizon reflected in an... Tswalu was wonderful and even better than I had hoped and imagined. We were lucky - a leopard sighting, a cheetah, an aardvark, two sables having a fight, a black rhino and calf and a sleeping pride of lions - not to mention numerous sightings of beautiful gemsbok, hartebeest and others. Spending time with the habituated meerkats was a highlight.... More

My wife and I took my mom to Tswalu for her 80th birthday and we had the experience of a lifetime. Tswalu is a beautiful pristine wilderness and the staff takes care of EVERY detail in the most caring and professional manner. I unequivocally and without any reservation recommend Tswalu to anyone who loves nature and wants to spend time... More

We spent 4 magical nights in Motse Lodge, Tsawlu Private Reserve. Excellent Food and Wines, Great Accommodation and Service. Rodger our Ranger [A great Young Birder] and Ben the Tracker, a great team added to an exceptional experience. We will be back.

My family had a truly magical visit to Tswalu. The accommodations were perfect, the ranger and tracker were outstanding and the food and service was excellent. The beauty and wildlife at Tswalu was very different from other parks we visited. It felt more remote and untouched. The vistas are enormous and the night sky is magnificent. We are already planning... More

For another ecosystem in South Africa, we went to the Motse Lodge at the Tswalu reserve. The suite is nicely appointed, even to a cappucino maker and trail mix. Because there are no lions in this section of the reserve, the suite opens out to the grassland and small water hole. One can sit on the porch and watch the... More

We spent four nights in the Motse lodge on the Tswalu Kalahari Reserve in mid-June. It surpassed all expectations for a camp - great accommodations, staff and game viewing. Our "room" was really a well appointed cottage with fine appointments like plush duvets, an inside and outside shower, luxury bath, a wood burning fireplace facing the king sized bed. The... More

Just to drive and see the vast dry plains is in itself amazing, but the accommodations and service are exceptional as well. There were many wonderful game sightings (including those just off our deck), but the best experience of all was the evening drive which came upon a pack of wild dogs on the hunt. What a rare privilege. Thank... More

This place is a true gem!! We visited The Motse in Tswalu in May 2014 for 4 nights. we loved it from the minute we stepped off the private plane that flew us in from Cape Town. The Tswalu-experience starts with a warm pick-up at the airstrip by your guide and tracker and a game drive to the lodge. The... More

Tswalu is fantastic in many ways! Their customer service exceeding my expectations, they are so friendly but still professional, have a great sense of humor and most importantly, VERY organized and move as a cohesive group. Accommodations: The plane from Joburg to Tswalu was a very executive PC12, configured for only 7 seats. It had wood trim and custom seat... More
