A wedding anniversary treat, we spent 3 nights at the beautiful setting of Walkersons. We took the luxury lakeside cottage and it was stunning. The hikes were really great with lovely trout streams and waterfalls. Everything was fantastic but the food let it down. Advertised as fine dining, we really felt it fell well short and the one evening all... More

From the moment we entered the gates until we left, we felt like royalty. Each individual room or lodge is beautifully appointed with everything we could ask for. Open fires, underfloor heating, gowns and working hairdryers! The staff were ultra efficient (actually hardly saw them) and everything was taken care almost before we could ask for anything. The food is... More

We arrived at Walkersons on 27-Feb-14 after flying in from London to JNB. We were just starting a two week journey through ZA and Botswana. I took the opportunity to fish the ponds (dams?) and stream of Walkersons. I did catch some trout (picture attached). We wish we would (could) have stayed another day and taken a horse back ride... Reminiscent of an old hunting lodge in the Scottish Highlands. Large, free-standing stone chalets overlooking green hills, lakes and fly fishermen bagging trout. A roaring log fire. A deep, welcoming stoop for tea and scones, sherry before dinner, port after; a different era remembered. An elegant dinner with excellent food and attentive, non-intrusive service. Old portraits and original furnishings. A... More

Stayed for two nights and was very impressed with the quality of the rooms, large and overlooking the lake, and the quality of the food in the beautiful restaurant. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and it is really agreat place to unwind, with lovely walks and bicycle trips. Some may find the location a little remote as it is 10km to... More

A beautiful hotel set in amazing scenery. It is expensive but worth it. The accommodation is excellent and there is a good restaurant and good service. The hotel is in the heart of the South African trout fishing area just outside the small town of Dulstrom. The accommodation is in separate lodges. In the evening the staff will light the... More

My wife celebrated her birthday on Tue, 28th and I took her to Walkersons on Mon, 27th of Jan for a romantic break-away. Upon arrival, hotel staff met us at the car and helped us with our luggage. Check-in required one signature and we were shown to our room. The room was properly cleaned and well stocked with everything we... More

We expected more from a 5* hotel! The main problems were cleanliness and service. The outdoor-staircases leading through the garden to the room were (in bad weather conditions) full of leaves and dirty and slippery. No possibility to clean your shoes before entering the room... so 4 people (my husband and me, the receptionist and the guy with the luggage)... More

Headed up to Walkersons for the weekend. As soon as we arrived someone was there to meet us, service was great. Food delicious. Fishing so easy as it's practically out of your room, horses wonderful and the trails are around the lodge and surrounding area, stunning! Wish we could of stayed for longer.
