The hotel is situated in the heart of Dullstroom, everything is within walking distance. The hotel has sweet, book and toys shop and restaurant with WiFi. Most the shops close, in Dullstrrom, at 5pm. The nights get VERY Cold, so make sure you bring lots of warm clothing. The room is going back to very basic, two wooden chairs and a... More

The Old Transvaal Inn is a landmark in Dullstroom. I can remember coming here as a child. Not for the hotel, but for the big sweetie store on site. They have all sorts of candies and chocolates - heaven! If that's not your thing, the shop is packed full of books, board games, art supplies, educational toys and more. Plenty... More

Stayed at place for 2 nights after recommended by friend who visited some years ago. All the facilities at Inn closes at 5 pm. Furniture dilapidated and old. Globes do not work and had to get security to find globes in another unit. With a little TLC, this place can be a gem, but looks like owners have no interest.

The rooms are basic yet large and has everything for a quick stop over. Would have loved to see some coffee for the morning as there is a kettle and cups but that's it! We had supper in the restaurant and albeit a bit expensive for the dishes, the food was great and tasty. Service exceptional and friendly owner always... More

We went for lunch here. What a lovely place! Traditional Afrikaans dishes and a very witty menu. We had the bobotie and the vet koek and cheese and biltong. Really scrumptious d and big portions. Take a walk inside the shop and buy a very affordable book. Nice paperbacks for R40! The sweet shop is amazing and the sweets are... More

Plain rooms and very basic. Very affordable and clean. Would have liked to have a shower instead of a bath, but it wasn't the end of the world. excellently situated! Fireplace was a bonus! We were two adults and two kids and stayed all in the same big comfortably. We will definitely return.

We stopped here for breakfast on our way to Johannesburg. The Main Street was littered with garbage as the locals were on strike for more money! Just after they had voted for the same party again! However, we sat in the sun and watched all the traffic negotiate past the garbage!!! Service was pleasant but VERY slow. Our omelettes were... More

We came into Dullstroom from the Kruger National Park and decided to spend the night. We checked into self catering cottages more or less on the main strip and had been recommended the Old Transval Inn for lunch. We went for a walk inside but thought it was too dingy for a nice sunny day so decided to sit outside.... More

We had wonderful cripsy waffles at Old Transvaal inn and good cinnamon and sugar pancakes. The 2 pancake serving were large enough for lunch! Did not stay in the rooms but looked ok. Will visit again.
