Discovered this gem while traveling on Route 66. Pulled in on a motorcycle just as the rain began to gently fall. We were instantly ushered to our room by the charming and generous hosts who moved their vehicle out of the garage so we could park out of the rain. Talked with many wonderful characters who made our stay even... More

We called Thursday evening to report that were running late on our drive in from Albuquerque, and the proprietors literally left the light on for us after hours--the iconic Blue Swallow neon sign. Thanks, guys. Best porch light ever. If you get in early enough, there are eateries nearby, otherwise your only options might be the fast-food outlets nearer the... More

This is truly a "one of a kind" place. The accommodations go far beyond comfort. The atmosphere is a true "step back in time" with lawn chairs by each room so you can take in the beautiful night air, fellowship with other travelers and just relax and enjoy a stay that you will remember for a lifetime. This has to... More

A fantastic stop on our road trip of Route 66. Nostalgic, comfortable, great hosts, great fellow travellers and more. We loved our room for 4, so comfortable with everything we needed. Great recommendation for dinner and back for time with fellow guests around the fire. We were fortunate to have been advised that prior booking (particularly in summer) is a... More

On a two week Route 66 trip purposely booked the Blue Swallow for its historic relevance and passion for the Route 66 traveler. The Blue Swallow motel was a really nice departure from the chain hotels we had stayed in along our journey. Kids loved exploring the grounds, playing with the dogs, and meeting our fellow Route 66 travelers. And... More

This is a great nostalgic hotel on Rt. 66. My husband & I stayed on our anniversary en route to Taos. Owners were friendly & inviting. We enjoyed the traveling troubadour as well, serenading the guests on his guitar. A nice place to relax after being on the road for hours. Imagine my pleasure at not only the room decor,... More

On our driving vacation we wanted to stay at a motel on Route 66 and after reading some reviews online decided on the Blue Swallow in Tucumcari N.M. We had a garage to park our car in, an old black phenolic dial telephone , the decor was like the 1960's. It brought back a lot of childhood memories, the owners... More

Route 66 must stay. 1940's style motel that has been sympathetically restored and fitted out in the right style. The room was smallish but more than adequate, the bathroom was tiny but well equipped and very clean. Table and chairs outside each room in the courtyard made for a very friendly atmosphere and we had an amazing evening with the... More

Blue Swallow takes you back to those "good old days" ! The rooms have the chenille bedspreads, garage for our car, decorated with murals from "Cars", neon highlights the motel when the sun goes down. They have lawn chairs if you want to set out and visit with your neighbors! They even take you back to the old dial telephones,... More

This is an iconic MUST stay motel! It's my goal to stay in all of the iconic Route 66 motels and this is one of the better ones. The bathrooms have the original pink and aqua tile, totally cool! It's clean but old so it might not be everyone's taste but the murals are excellent!
