We expected a late arrival, called ahead and were assured that "the light would be on for us"--both the Blue Swallow light and our porch light. We easily checked in and out the next morning. Thanks for such a pleasant stay on Route 66.

An absolute classic on Route 66! Quaint little motel with kitschy decorations everywhere (from the rooms to the garages to the old cars out front to the front desk and souvenir shop to the ice machine and 50's era community fridge!). The family that currently owns the place are awesome and super helpful. The A/C was a bit loud in... More

This quaint motel is family owned and operated. We stayed in the suite which offers two beds. This is not a luxury hotel, but rather a trip into history. Some of the garages have murals on the walls that are awesome. This is a must stop for anyone wanting to experience Route 66.

Everything you've read on the reviews is accurate. It's a "bucket list" must do. Fun, different, relaxing, and gives a new perspective on travel. Plan ahead and enjoy an evening from the past. Over look the small inconveniences and just enjoy . The owners are sticklers for your comfort. Be sure to walk the area and see other remnants of... More

We spent one night at the Blue Swallow as part of a Route 66 trip to the Grand Canyon. The owner's son, Cameron, and his wife, Jessica, were the proprietors for the week. They greeted us enthusiastically as soon as we entered the front door and made us feel at home. I even spotted the "Mrs. Beasley" doll in a... More

When I originally booked our room I was sad that we would be in Tucumcari on a Sunday, when many businesses are closed (as they should be!). When we got to our room (the family suite), we realized we really didn't want to leave the Blue Swallow anyway! The rooms were extremely clean and well put together! My children and... More

This place is exactly like I thought it would be. We stayed here on our route 66 trip and are very thankful that we did. The actual owners of the hotel were on vacation but their son was there and he was very friendly. The rooms are clean and cute with everything you need. Hanging out in front of your... More

Very nice motel on Route 66! My boyfriend and I were spending a couple days driving along Route 66 and I had made a reservation to stay here. We loved the quaintness of the motel and it's history! The owners were very nice and gave us a tour of all their old cars, which my boyfriend adores! The rooms are... More

We stayed at the Blue Swallow Inn on July 18, 2014, and what a wonderful experience it was! Cameron and Jessica couldn't have been nicer and more accommodating! First of all, our room, No. 10, was wonderful - everything was immaculate and brought back memories of travels with my parents on Rte. 66. The chenille bedspreads, the furniture, the rotary... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
BREAK THE CHAIN! Travel just a short distance away from the I-40 off-ramp to experience the best of the past, with old-fashioned hospitality that is all too rare these days. The Blue Swallow Motel is a classic Motor Court established in 1939 on historic Route 66, and one of few anywhere still operating in its original configuration. Rooms are clean and comfortable, but retain an authentic feel from the heyday of route 66 travel. Premium creature comforts including wonderful mattresses, spa-like towels, and Desert Breeze organic shampoo, soap, and lotion. Most rooms include a garage to make you feel more at home while you are on the road, and these are perfect for parking your motorcycle or classic car for the night. All rooms are non-smoking. One of the best neon displays on Route 66! Come spend a memorable night and experience the home-style hospitality of a bygone era at the Blue Swallow Motel! ... more   less
