Planning an overnight stay in Tucumcari and wanting to do so at one of the Route 66 motels, we asked some locals at a restaurant which motel they could recommend.
They told us to stay at the Travelers Motor Inn and we were not disappointed.
Recently renovated, this original Route 66 motel offers cute, simply furnished (TV with HBO included) and very clean and comfortable rooms - I have rarely slept so well in a bed not my own.
There is also a "wake-up beverage room" next to the reception in which complimentary coffee and orange juice is available in the morning.
During our stay a severe storm caused a power outage throughout the whole town; a few minutes after this happened Mr. Bond, the owner, went from room to room to supply his guests with candles and check to see if everything was o.k. - we felt well taken care of.
A room rate of under $35 certainly contributed to the positive experience and we would definitely stay at this motel again.
