We rolled in late at night and had a very pleasant stay. We did a 5500 mile road trip, stayed at chains, much more expensive hotels...but this was one of our favorites! LOVE the decor and the room was very clean. Would stay here again. Thanks!

I wanted to stay in Tucumcari on the way back from Tucson to K.C. I checked reviews before I left and came up with three possibles: The Blue Swallow, Safari and Historic Route 66. Blue Swallow only had two-person room for $79+tax (traveling solo - too high). Safari was $59+tax and wanted a credit card. I don't use credit cards,... More

Stayed in a pet friendly room that had a bit of a smell. The bed was a bit uncomfortable. Overall the experience was good. Don't miss the lobby ..beautiful retro furniture. Apart from some noisy truckers..good deal. I was surprised that that had semis park right in front like a real low class motel.

The Historic Route 66 Motel is a mid-century time capsule of a thriving Rt. 66 in the good ole days. Our clean room offered comfortable beds, spic-n-span bathroom, finished with details of its original decor, details evident from the lobby to the coffee shop - Circa. Look for the airplane parked under the sign.

I think Tucumcari on a motorcycle trip. We picked this hotel based on web reviews and were not disappointed. The owner check as soon, and provided excellent service and some good tips on places to eat. He offered to share his covered parking and allowed us to park our bikes in the carport. The room was nicely decorated and was... More

As the name suggests, the Historic Route 66 Motel brings guests back in time. The rooms have a floor to ceiling window that is unusual for motel rooms – with window coverings for your privacy, of course. The wood covered walls and mid-century modern furnishings reminded me of my childhood home. The bathroom tiles appeared to be original and were... More

The staff was great when I checked in. Rooms were clean. Small hotels are becoming a thing of the past and I especially like to support them. For the price they charge you can't expect breakfast and flat screen TVs but this place was clean and orderly and I also got a queen bed!

We drove through Tucumcari during one of the coldest snaps of the year. Having stayed at the Historic Route 66 Motel before, we knew where we would stay that night. I must say that I was a little apprehensive that we would be cold during the night. I believe it was down to about 10 degrees that night. Well, we... More

This was a wonderful place to stay. My boyfriend our dog and I were on a road trip from Austin to San Francisco and decided to stay the night in Tucamcari. We stayed in one of the pet friendly rooms and there were no weirds smells or pet markings (which I was expecting due to the other reviews on here)... More

I read the reviews thinking I would like this motel, I was wrong. Many things were wrong with this room. First of all I requested a "pet" friendly room so perhaps the non-pet friendly rooms are nicer. With that being said, I was disappointed with my stay here. First thing I noticed was the odor. It smelled to me like... More

And just think Greg - you stayed in a pet room that was just recently remodeled! Really - I’m not kidding. The particular room that you slept was just completed at the end of December. The bed was purchased along with some others October 2012. Although the baseboard is brand new, the professionally cleaned carpet still has a couple of... More
