The Laughing Horse Inn has re-opened under new management and with upgrades all in keeping with the unique and tasteful funkiness that has kept me (and others) coming back year after year after year. The perfect place for a relaxing weekend (or week) in a unique building that is so much a part of Taos history. Great breakfast. Jeanne, the manager, is great!! more

The Laughing horse has just now re-opened under new management (we were 1st guests!). The location is great - eclectic rooms, lovely ambience. Jeanne, the manager, was a perfect hostess - catering to all our wishes & full of great information. more

The Inn evidently closed without warning around June 25, 2008. The phone for the Inn has been disconnected. The website also has expired. We had reservations and didn't find this out until we arrived to find the place deserted and a note on the door that it was closed. more

Leading groups through Northern NM, I've stayed at the Horse a couple of times over the last 8 years or so and everyone has enjoyed it. I brought a group of 15 travelers to the Horse earlier this week and am sad to say that it was ABOMINABLE!! Evidently the Horse's new owner has failed to maintain both the grounds, kitchen, lounge and rooms relying on his underpaid and neglected staff to maintain a thread... more

the place is funky and the innkeepers, so many of them for such a small place, are loud until late hours of the night. the room we stayed in had a creaky staircase up the side wall that serviced the workers quarters. all night long they were running up and down which made sleep impossible. okay for a cheap youth hostle perhaps, but our room was $90 per night. the shared bath is moldy. avoid... more

My husband and I live in Santa Fe, and have been coming to the Laughing Horse for years, about once or twice a year for an occasional overnight getaway. The vibe of the hotel is relaxed and friendly, and is a great escape from reality. We love borrowing a stack of dvds from the large collection they make available to all guests (they also have cds and lots of books you can borrow) and settling... more

This has been a very funky inn for a number of years. Many of the guest rooms have loft beds with lodge-pole ladder access. I've loved the place since I started staying there in the mid-90s. The proprietors have always pretty much left it to its funky self which is perfect for a stay in Taos. It's rustic, and funky, and interesting, and comfortable, and a great place to meet interesting people. They provide good... more

We found our stay here way too short (2 nights) could have stayed a week there. Ramsey and Bob are the warmest and friendliest hosts. The feeling you get when staying there is one of peace, tranquility, and connectiveness. Will stay there and only there in the future for sure. If you like layed back, sharing, and casual, historic ambiance, then this is your place. Art and Mary Evans Illinois. more

The Laughing Horse Inn is a very funky and fun place to stay. It is not for travelers who want to be pampered, aren't comfortable with oddities or who enjoy luxurious surroundings. Look for the Jerry Garcia altar........ Also, it looks a little odd from the outside but is very pleasant on the inside. The very small rooms with sleeping lofts are only for the young/adventurous and agile. They are small so two people max... more

I've stayed at the Laughing Horse several times now (I live in Santa Fe but jump at the opportunity to stay occasionally in Taos)...I've been there with a partner and with my family (and dog!). The Laughing Horse embodies Taos - quirky, a bit rustic, with no straight lines in the place. Friendly staff, amazing breakfast/kitchen, funny video/cd library, locally-made pinon incence in your room, great Taos-style ambiance, accepting of good dogs, downright creative in... more
