The practical review: Casa Gallina has basically everything you could possibly want from a bed and breakfast, and then somehow manages to go beyond that to have what you needed for an amazing experience but didn't even think of. The rooms are beautifully decorated, warm, and homey. Each casita has a kitchen complete with table settings and cooking supplies, not... More

We just returned from our fall outing in Taos and again we stayed at Casa Gallina. After the first time we stayed at Casa Gallina, there is now no question, we would not even consider staying at any other place. I have lost count on our number of stays there. It does in fact feel like our SECOND HOME. This... More

Another in a series of stays at Casa Gallina. I always hesitate to write good reviews for Richard because it is getting much more difficult to stay here in one of our favorite places in the world. This is such a magical place, the light, the grounds, Richard (of course) and the guests we have met who are fellow co-inhabitants... More

Our short trip to Taos, in early September, was quite exceptional. Having found Casa Gallina on TA, reading the reviews and consulting our friends with whom we were traveling, we were hopeful that we'd be in a special place. But one never knows. With Casa Gallina, trust the good reviews. The four of us had a three bedroom casita with... More

Chickens and roosters and pups, oh, my! What a wonderful place - quaint casitas (little adobe "cottages" ), fresh eggs, a fully equipped kitchen, kiva (adobe fireplace), and some surprise muffins in the morning. Richard is a wonderful host with a wealth of information about the area. Choose Bantam Roost for a spacious two-story casita with a deck off of... More

We rented one of Richard's casitas with friends for a two day visit to Taos. We had a three bedroom two bath unit with a full kitchen. Upon our arrival, waiting for us was a bottle of wine and a lovely assortment of hors d'oeuvres. There also were fresh eggs for breakfast the next day. Richard, the owner really understands... More

We were so taken with the charm of our casita (Leghorn), the gorgeous grounds, the hilarious hens and our gracious and helpful host Richard Spera that within an hour of checking in we were trying to change our flight home so we could stay longer! It's hard to imagine a more perfect place to stay while in Taos (or possibly... More

I'm going to start with a concern and then explain why you shouldn't really be concerned about it! During our stay in the Bantam Roost, there were a couple of nights where nearby dogs barked loudly--not just when the coyotes riled them up (which was actually kind of cool), but for long stretches. There was also a fair amount of... More

Casa Gallina is the first place we've ever stayed where we actually canceled plans in order to spend more time in our quarters. The property is beautiful, well-manicured and a perfect reflection of its happy, energetic owner, Richard Spera (who was finishing up his tango dance lessons when we arrived, talk about the good life). Our cottage was charming, immaculately... More

I am not sure how to express how much I love Casa Gallina. My husband and I have stayed at bed and breakfasts and inns all over the world, but Casa Gallina exceeds them all in character and details. Even if you have no desire to come to Taos (you'd be crazy), I would recommend making a special trip just... More
