We rented one of Richard's casitas with friends for a two day visit to Taos. We had a three bedroom two bath unit with a full kitchen. Upon our arrival, waiting for us was a bottle of wine and a lovely assortment of hors d'oeuvres. There also were fresh eggs for breakfast the next day. Richard, the owner really understands... More

We were so taken with the charm of our casita (Leghorn), the gorgeous grounds, the hilarious hens and our gracious and helpful host Richard Spera that within an hour of checking in we were trying to change our flight home so we could stay longer! It's hard to imagine a more perfect place to stay while in Taos (or possibly... More

I'm going to start with a concern and then explain why you shouldn't really be concerned about it! During our stay in the Bantam Roost, there were a couple of nights where nearby dogs barked loudly--not just when the coyotes riled them up (which was actually kind of cool), but for long stretches. There was also a fair amount of... More

Casa Gallina is the first place we've ever stayed where we actually canceled plans in order to spend more time in our quarters. The property is beautiful, well-manicured and a perfect reflection of its happy, energetic owner, Richard Spera (who was finishing up his tango dance lessons when we arrived, talk about the good life). Our cottage was charming, immaculately... More

I am not sure how to express how much I love Casa Gallina. My husband and I have stayed at bed and breakfasts and inns all over the world, but Casa Gallina exceeds them all in character and details. Even if you have no desire to come to Taos (you'd be crazy), I would recommend making a special trip just... More

Richard Spera (proprietor of Casa Gallina) does it right. His B&B has become our home-away-from-home. Picture perfect, full of art and antiques, Richard's attention to detail everywhere, set in a semi-rural area. It's comforting to know and be in a place where our surroundings are carefully maintained to the last detail. The moment we check in, we feel this "Ahhhh"... More

This lovely inn had it all for us. A truly beautiful and comfortable space. A kitchen that inspired good cooking. Genuine hospitality from the owner Richard and the innkeeper Sean. We loved having fresh eggs each morning from the inn's chickens! A highlight of our trip.

I had a lovely stay in Taos and my casita at Casa Gallina was a highlight. I only stayed two days, but it immediately felt like home. I had a great deck with views of the mountains. A cozy living area with a fireplace and a nice kitchen. The bottle of wine and the snacks waiting for me were a... More

Hard to add accolades not already heaped on Richard and Casa Gallina. The Leghorn suite was very spacious and comfortable for our stay. Truly a great spot to call home while seeking out the wonders of Taos.

My husband, two dogs and I stayed in one of the charming guest houses at Casa Gallina for the Christmas holidays. We felt right at home immediately! Richard, the owner, warmly greeted us with wine, cheese, fresh eggs and baked goods upon our arrival. What a wonderful host! The casita was cozy and well-appointed, with a fireplace, kitchen and great... More
