Casa Gallina is located in an undeveloped area of Taos, New Mexico. The views are fabulous. You are surrounded by mountains! From the Bantam Roost casita upper deck, you can watch sunset, sunrise, and have a fabulous view of the moon and stars at night! Very little light scatter! And Richard Spera, our host, raises these absolutely unbelievable chickens! According... More

Staying at Casa Gallina is less like a B&B and more like a vacation rental, but with a host who quickly seems like an old friend. Each of the 4 casitas or cottages is decorated differently and seems to have a very different character. We stayed in the Bantam Roost, a charming old-style adobe house on 2 levels, with a... More

We had a lovely stay at Casa Galina the first week of December. The room is so beautifully decorated that you feel as if you truly are living in someone's well cared for home. Richard is the perfect host; he sat with us and shared some suggestions for local hiking areas, restaurants, and shopping. His daily gift of baked goods... More

I had the great good fortune to spend a few days over Thanksgiving at Casa Gallina. Our casita was a total delight! Full of beautiful, unique artworks throughout, and appointed with everything that one could need. The kitchen and eating nook worked beautifully, and how we enjoyed starting our day cooking a breakfast with the fresh eggs that appeared magically... More

You won't find a place more charming or a more gracious host than Richard Spera of Casa Gallina. We've stayed in the Bantam's Roost twice in the last few months and it is stellar. It is an individual guest house on the grounds with three other guest houses and is just what you would hope to find in Taos: a... More

I returned in early November to Casa Gallina (after falling in love with the place two years ago), and if anything I can say the place has (is it possible??) improved, due to the fact that another casita is now available. it's called El Gallo and is the biggest one, with 3 bedrooms. Exquisitely furnished, with a state of the... More

Truly I hesitate to write this review since more business will mostly likely mean that I won't be able to get a reservation the next time that I need one. However it would be selfish of me to keep this property and the superlative host all to myself. There is a reason why Casa Gallina is rated as the #1... More

I have just spent an amazing week in two of Richard's casitas and I had a real hard time leaving. I was touched by the warm wellcome, amazed at the beauty of the spaces indoor and outdoor, everything exuding care and the invitation to enjoy every secon, every moment of your staying in full awareness. Not to forget the presence... More

We stayed in the Bantam Roost of Casa Gallina in early October 2011. The property and innkeeper are priceless. The property is unique and meticulously maintained. We appreciated small touches like organic french roast coffee, fresh eggs from the girls, and clever knick-knacks throughout the roost. Richard is the consummate host. We loved the treats he left out for us... More

The other reviews say it all. Bottom line; If you prefer to stay where you are more than a room number, are sensitive to your impact on the environment and want to connect personally with a destination, do not consider any accomodations in Taos other than Casa Gallina. You will not be disappointed and in fact will describe your time... More
