Big disappointment. Does not compare favorably to prior visits. Food and service in the restaurant were poor, showing a lack of training of the wait staff. We ordered elk chop ($39) and filet minion ($40), the two most expensive items on the menu. The elk was undercooked (actually raw) and too tough to chew. It was sent back. The filet... More

Upon reading some of the other reviews, I wonder if I was staying at the same place! I found my room at the El Monte Sagrado uncomfortable -- dark, weird décor and impractical layout. Despite a sliding glass door, the room was in credibly dark - there were three TINY pot lights in the ceiling, and the one other lamp... More

Thanks for your comments. We do have plans to add more lights to the Taos Mountain Rooms. The turquoise covered cow scull, feaux cow hides, horse paintings and feaux deer antler chandeliers are itended to honor the animals that planyed an important roll in the local history and culture. We have four other room types to choose from. The Casitas,... More

Met friends here for the first part of journey through Taos and Santa Fe. Upon registering we went into the bar to see our friends and were immediately greeted by a very friendly staff. The interiors of this hotel are very lovely and when you chat with the employees it's quite obvious they are very proud of their hotel. As... More

When we arrived we were informed that the Taos water main had broken and the hotel, and the city were out of water. Despite the stresses involved with no plumbing or food, the hotel trucked in cases of Avian bottled water to dispense. Everyone kept calm and staff accommodated all requests. Jolene, the registration supervisor, did a phenomenal job keeping... More

Please read the pros and cons after reading this part. We're not at all stuffy or picky, but we think you should get what you pay for. We had a two night stay in mid September. As you turn in, just a quarter mile from the center of Taos, very friendly & helpful valet and staff greet you & take... More

We stayed for two nights at El Monte Sagrado, sadly coinciding with a water issue, which to be fair, the hotel handled pretty well. The pros - we had a lovely Native American suite which was very comfortable, the young valet was a credit to the hotel - cheerful, professional and helpful, the grounds are lovely and it is close... Thank you for your comments. While it may seem as though management is not listening, we are. Unfortunately, hotels and resorts are trending in the same direction that airlines have gone. Since consumers tend to book via the internet based solely on price, in order for luxury hotels to even show up on the internet radar they must list their... More

We absolutely enjoyed our stay here from July 28 - August 1. Our gold elite level was honored automatically with an upgrade from a standard room to the Osceola Suite. This was especially fitting for us since we are from Florida where the tribe is also from. The suite was very spacious and decorated beautifully. We loved it. The fireplace... More

We stayed in the Egypt suite, which was lovely. Others in our group were in standard rooms, which were nice, but the suites are very special! Not only in our room, but all around the resort the attention to artistic detail was amazing. So much beauty. The margaritas were fresh, creative, unusual and delicious. The breakfast was good as well.... More

This property was beautiful with well appointed rooms all with different themes. Very serene and zen like all around. Stunning grounds, staff, service and food. You can stay in the hotel building or they have separate casitas with streams and ponds thoughout, beautiful and very unique! We ate at the bar the first night as we were tired, so glad... More

This hotel was unsurpassed in my 30 years of travel. I stayed in a mountain room, as well as a casita and they were both lovely and prepared perfectly. The grounds, the galleries, and the architecture were stunning. I have never seen a pool and green house so beautiful and natural along with environmental. The staff is phenomenal and all... More
