This lodge is in a good location, but ... this is TAOS, a great place to visit. The actual lodge needs upkeep. It is tired and worn. Basics like an ice machine (cooler with ice in the registration desk lobby), and more advanced improvements like furniture or outdoor stairway improvements. Even if it's just for a night, you can probably... More

Location is nice, very nostolgic and quaint but housekeeping could do a better job at making sure everything in the room is as it should be (tub needs to be cleaner, coffee maker should be clean, etc.) Not all power outlets work or work properly, I think there was a short in our room and was afraid a fire would... Basic Lodging at moderate tolow pricing. On the South end of town on he main thoroughfare. Parking is somewhat tight, some rooms were taped off for non-use. Property is old with some maintenance issues. Door to room would not latch easily, and housekeeping left door unsecure daily office was notified, but repair waas not quick! Light between beds would not... More

SGL has a very nice property. My first night I had a room in one of the buildings on the second floor which didn't have the air working. It was very hot. The next day they moved me to a very nice room, with air, on the first floor. The staff were very cordial and helpful. I would stay there... More

The property is rundown! No blow dryer (had to borrow from office), no iron/board. Ice machine was a cooler of ice in the office (office closes at 8 pm). The only good thing was the location, but here are many other hotels available in the area. I would never recommend this place to anyone.

This is a Taos small motel/lodge. Know what you are getting in for. This is not a luxury type place and is basic accommodations for a fair price. Has a nice little kitchenette, which would be handy for longish stays as Taos food is expensive. There is a kiva fireplace stocked with wood, would be very nice for a cold... More

My room had no air conditioning 80 degrees at night. Was told the hotel is under new management. There was no knock out curtains on the front window just blinds, Spotty TV reception, Shower slowly drains leaving you ankle deep in water, bathroom plaster coming off ceiling in many places, very dirty baseboards, slow internet measured download speed at 2.19Mbits... I'm in the room right now and my first complaint is that there is no table or desk. That means no place to work at a computer or eat. There is an uncomfortable leather chair (with a rip on one side), and I'm sitting in the chair with the computer on my lap. The room lacks anything to place items... More

Just beware that some of their rooms do not have air conditioning. And they won't tell you this on the front end. Obviously the owners are not willing to put any money into maintaining the buildings and property. Overall it's not bad for the price, but just be sure you know what you are getting.
