My wife, granddaughter and I very much liked the Hotel La Fonda in Taos. The front desk staff was friendly and accommodating. Our rooms had plenty of space and were pleasantly furnished. Parking was free in a lot behind the hotel. The hotel is right on the plaza, which makes shopping, dining, and loafing convenient. We'll stay there again.

Beautiful hotel on the Plaza features comfortable rooms at a reasonable price considering the location. Park your car and take an easy stroll to the many attractions Taos has to offer. Guests get 15% off at the Matrix restaurant inside the hotel, which is well worth trying. Staff are friendly and accommodating, without being in your face. Ask at the... More

Located right on the plaza, this historic, well run hotel provided us with a wonderful opportunity to experience "authentic" Taos. Friendly staff and ability to explore by walking made for a stress free visit. When possible, my husband and I look for unique hotels to experience the local flavor and found this one clean and more than adequately appointed at... More

Our trip to Taos left us wanting to enjoy everything for much longer, yes, we were there for too short a time! We will fix that next year! The hotel was beautiful, the staff was extremely friendly and accommodating, the free poured coffee at the coffee shop was awesome, and the room was outstanding. Small but very well appointed and... The first floor of this hotel was built in 1820 and you can feel the history the moment you walk into the lobby. We feared that staying in the heart of Taos in the historical Plaza would carry a premium, and we held our breath when we asked about prices. We were relieved that they weren't out of our price... While the building itself is fairly old, it is well maintained, and the rooms have more character than your national chains would. It faces the main plaza in town, and is surrounded by interesting shops. We stayed while skiing at a nearby resort area, and found the staff very friendly and helpful. We arrived late on our day of check-in,... More

This is a nice old hotel. The linens we good. The room was clean. But there were a few problems. We could not set the heat low enough to be comfortable. I saw other rooms had their windows open. The hotel is next to a bar that plays music until midnight. The hotel must know about this because they provide... More

An older hotel with a great location on the square, Hotel La Fonda de Taos staff was very friendly and helpful and the room was clean and nicely done in Southwestern style. We had a kiva fireplace in our suite which was a nice touch. There is no restaurant but you can get coffee and snacks at the cafe in... More

I have a problem calling it a hotel as it is not a hotel and neither a motel as there is no breakfast facilities, only a free coffee service at the Starbucks in the lobby, however it is very limiting on the complimentary coffee selection and considering the hotel rate this aspect is poor. Apart from the above comment everything... More

I am from New Mexico so I have known about the La Fonda Hotels throughout our state and they have a great reputation. They are very nicely furnished in a New Mexican style without taking away from the unique decor and atmosphere they are known for. The Hotel La Fonde de Taos was a 2 day stay at Christmas time....
