We truly enjoyed our stay and the bush activities has been great thanks to the strict rules of the park (not more than 2 cars per cheetah or leopard sights) - We were lucky to see the magnificent 7 in 4 drives. Jepi has been a great ranger, polite, humble, respectful and funny. The park is amazing and the experience... More

My husband and I went to the Madikwe Safari Lodge in November 2012. The staff was amazingly kind and helpful, the food was amazing and our safari guide Gabriel was great. Gabriel is a zoologist by training and had a lot of wonderful information to share about the topography and the animals. Our huts were luxurious and the sitting decks... More

My wife and I had a wonderful time with our 4 year old daughter. All the staff were very helpful. The individual safari experience with our guide Andre was fantastic. The wine tasting in the bush with Clive was a unique experience. BOMA evening was enjoyed by all of us especially the pizza making by our daughter. We would recommend... More

What a wonderful stay, made especially special by the personalized service and small touches. Nothing was too much trouble and every request attended to. Beautiful accommodation, our son loved his very kid friendly separate bedroom. Food outstanding, Moses and Clive ensured Everything was to our liking and ran smoothly. The cherry on the top was the game drives. Joe, an... More

We spent 4 days and 3 nights with our two 8-year-olds and a couple who live in Johannesburg. This place is great. Its web site is informative and accurate. The lodge is beautiful (it executes the theme of bringing the outdoors inside quite well), the family suite was perfect for us and our kids, the operation is very accommodating of... More

(26 July – 30 July) A fantastic experience, everything was excellent and the individual lodges superb. A cosy and personal feel to the place that made you totally unwind and relax. The staff did everything to make our stay perfect – checking on us to make sure things were OK, leaving us messages on a blackboard in our room and... More

We spent 5 wonderful nights at this very special place during late July. This was a holiday to remember forever. Africa, especially the Kalahari, has always had a profound effect on us. It is beautiful and magical - almost spiritual. What made the holiday so special, however, was the way we were treated by ALL the staff at Madikwe Safari... More

After a less than successful road trip, we arrived at the lodge in a bit of a state, but were warmly greeted by the manager and staff. After a quick 'pitstop' we were out on our first game drive with Andre, our excellent field ranger for the week. The experience was incredible. Andre's knowledge of animals, birds, plants, geology, history... More

Madikwe Safari Lodge (Lelapo) and game reserve seeped into our souls over a 5 night stay at the end of July (we could easily have stayed a few days longer without getting bored). The accommodation is luxurious without being gaudy, and it is very cleverly situated within the bush for minimum impact on the environment. The food is superb. We... More

We snuck off just for a quick 2 night break from Joburg and it was fantastic. The food was excellent, the staff friendly and attentive. The rooms where loverly (a fire lit in them each night!) and comfortable with breathtaking views. The game viewing was great too. The little touches made it special. We will definitely return.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The rich red timbres of the African earth are reflected in the warm tones of Madikwe Safari Lodge. Cradled between rolling hills, overlooking game-filled plains intersected by the Marico River and framed by the Dwarsberg Hills, just 20 suites are clustered in three intimate camps. With circular fireplaces at the heart of every suite, and big glass doors to blur the boundary between inside and out, Madikwe embodies the warm, bold heart of this spectacularly rugged corner of Africa. Spacious wooden decks embrace inviting plunge pools, and book-filled shelves in quiet corners entice and captivate, while large pizza ovens add a fun twist to meal times. ... more   less
