The Hotel was immaculate and service of a very high standard. Game viewing very good. Food generally very good but perhaps too mich Barbecue focus.

We stayed at Shamwari as part of a trip to South Africa to celebrate my husband’s 40th birthday, and we decided to make Shamwari the place to stay on his actual birthday. How right was that decision in hindsight – Shamwari made the birthday, and the whole stay, very memorable. We stayed at Long Lee Manor and it was excellent,... More

What can I say about Shamwari - words fail me. Accomodation at theRiverdene lodge was excellent, the food interesting and always to hand the service of the staff impeccable. This was only overshadowed by the knowledge and expertise of the game wardens, views of Shamwari and the beauty of the wild animals! Not cheap but if you're going to do... More

My wife and I have just come away from a 3 night stay at Eagles Crag Lodge in Shamwari and the experience was truly amazing. From the luxury surroundings of the lodge to the stunning food and wine (always on hand, always available from the super friendly staff) to the knowledge, expertise and professionalism of the rangers (especially our ranger... The lodges are amazing, this place is big bucks but worth it at the end of the day. The location is unreal, the wildlife experience up-close with excellent guides - request Darryl if you can. The only comment is that the food was a big disappointment considering the cost.

If we could give this six stars, we would! It was impossible to fault any aspect of our stay! The rooms were large and comfortable and the meals excellent with a wide menu choice available. Service by the staff – whether in the dining room, giving room service, or in the bar – was always discreet but friendly. The reason... More

Eagles Crag is like an oasis in the middle of a heavenly experience. On arrival we were given drinks and a tour of the lodge. We were then shown to our room (of which Mr Brad Pitt had slept in!). WoW! This room was outstanding. No-one can explain sense of serenity and calmness - even though it is in the... More

The fact that I want to be there now probably sums up our thoughts on Eagles Crag, Shamwari! My husband and I were there for 2 nights. I personally would have loved one more night. Whilst we were there, we noticed some people only staying for one night and then one of the guests whom we went on game drives... More

The Shamwari is something else. As you drive along the dirt road to reach it you do begin to wonder where you are going, but within an hour of arriving you know you have chosen wisely. The staff and rangers are excellent, friendly and knowledgeable. It seems that their whole purpose is to give you a very memorable experience. One... More
