We were orignally booked into Bushman's River Lodge but were upgraded to Eagles Crag which was a stunning place. The rooms were amazing as was the rest of the lodge. Each room had it's own private deck and pool which was great for relaxing in between game drives. Stayed 2 nights and had 4 drives. Graham our ranger was brilliant... more

Stayed in Shamwari for 3 nights from 8th through 10th March at Eagles Cragg. Rooms are superb as is everything about the lodge, mainly the people really who make the stay unforgettable. The setting, the food, the game drives all absolutely fantastic. Our ranger Frans was David Attenborough times 10, his knowledge of not just the wildlife but flora, fauna... more

We stayed at Bayethe which isa tented lodge. Our accommodation was spacious, comfortable and private. The facilities were excellent, but some attention to detail is needed. We had to get help to lock one of the outside doors, and the safe didn't work easily. Our time in the lodge was spoilt by the presence of a mouse (at least, we... more

What can I say about Shamwari - words fail me. Accomodation at theRiverdene lodge was excellent, the food interesting and always to hand the service of the staff impeccable. This was only overshadowed by the knowledge and expertise of the game wardens, views of Shamwari and the beauty of the wild animals! Not cheap but if you're going to do... more

The fact that I want to be there now probably sums up our thoughts on Eagles Crag, Shamwari! My husband and I were there for 2 nights. I personally would have loved one more night. Whilst we were there, we noticed some people only staying for one night and then one of the guests whom we went on game drives... more

The Shamwari is something else. As you drive along the dirt road to reach it you do begin to wonder where you are going, but within an hour of arriving you know you have chosen wisely. The staff and rangers are excellent, friendly and knowledgeable. It seems that their whole purpose is to give you a very memorable experience. One... more

The whole experience from start to finish was amazing and I’ll never forget a single second of the 3 days we spent at Shamwari. The entire staff was extraordinary – from the moment of arrival to time we sadly had to say goodbye (it was a rather long goodbye as we really didn’t want to leave!). We stayed at Bayethe... more

We had an amazing time at Shamwari. We stayed for 3 nights, so had 6 game drives. Bring hats and gloves. I know it's africa, bit It's truely freezing at night speeding along in an open jeep! The accomodation was fantastic. We stayed in the tents at Bayethe, and while it cost a bit more, it was really worth it.... more

This place is an absolute must....if you've got the spare pennies! We booked in for a night at the end of our S.A 'leg', and we weren't disappointed. knowing we were pushed for time we gambled on 2 game drives being enough (and about as far as our coppers would allow!). Although it's a bit of a drive, the scenery... more

We went to Shamwari for our honeymoon. We were met by the manager as we arrived and shown to our room at Eagles Cragg. Each day we were woken at 5.30am to go on the first of 2 drives which lasted around 3 hours each. We saw elephants, cheetah’s and cubs, lions, hippo’s, rhino’s and giraffe’s to mention but a... more
