My college-age daughter and I spent three wonderful days at Umlani Bushcamp last week. We loved everything about our visit. We saw the big five plus much more. Some of the highlights included several visits with the wild dog puppies, watching a leopard eat an impala in a tree while his brother watched nearby from the ground and following a... More

I went as solo traveler and had the opportunity to met wonderful people at the same time that I had a true life experience. It was all that I expected and more. The no-electricity + no-mobile network really manage to disconnect you from the world. I have to confess that I was truly sad when I was leaving the camp... More

Despite offering excellent game viewing opportunities and set in a superb location, the most impressive aspect of Umlani is the team of dedicated, personable and highly skilled staff. During my three day stay, we sighted almost everything the wider Kruger has to offer with only Lions failing to make a appearance. My top memories of Umlani are spotting a Leopard... More

My 21 year old son and I spent 4 days at Umlani Bushcamp in January, 2014. It was our first trip to Kruger National Park, and we didn't really know what to expect. Had heard good things about Umlani, but our stay far exceeded all expectations. The staff was very friendly, and we truly enjoyed the camp experience - great... More

We did not want a hotel experience but wanted to experience nature. This is what we got with expert guides, close up off road views of animals and seeing more than just the big five animals. Wonderful, friendly and helpful host and staff. Good healthy food and chance to get to know other guests. The rooms were comfortable and fun.... More

If you want the real feeling of experiencing what South Africa has to offer, this is it! Immersed in the wildlife habitat around you, you're left with no electricity, campfires, good drinks and all around peacefulness. My first time here to South Africa in may 2011 was definitely one I will remember. We saw the big five, had great safaris... More

Our 3 days here were magical - wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy the quite peaceful setting. Although you are only 40 minutes from the modern hurly burly world once you arrive at the camp within 24 hours you feel a million miles away! The no electricity in guest rooms is a charming touch along with no wifi... More

It took five years to return to South Africa; this time we took friends to enjoy the down-to-earth, in-the-bush feel of Umlani. We had the best of times. Under the always skillful, often witty care of guide Elvis, we spotted lions, leopards, wild dog, and much, much, more. The camp is collection of thatched rondavals, ensuite, with beautiful landscaping. It... More

We were delighted to be part of the Umlani family for 3 nights from July16th 2014. From the first moment in the camp, we felt welcomed and were able to enjoy the hospitality offered. The game drives were incredible, we saw the Big 5 (Rhino, Lion, Leopard, Buffalo & Elephant) but also zebra, giraffe, hippo and so many other animals... More

Wow, we're just back from three days at Umlani Bushcamp. Huge thanks to the Schiess family for sharing their piece of paradise. I loved the laid back atmosphere and nothing was too much trouble. No mobile phone reception; no power but you can charge camera batteries should you need to. It's a break from technology. This is my second visit... More
