You really have a lot to choose from when you decide to do a safari in South Africa. A good friend of ours had stayed at Kambaku Safari Lodge in Timbavati ...she highly recommended it to my girlfriend and I and we were extremely pleased! We arrived and were warmly greeted by David and Boingu. The wonderful hospitality and service... More

Many thanks for such a wonderful review - it is very much appreciated by all of us. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay and that the game drives were so productive - even more so because you were lucky enough to see wild dogs and the white lions for which Timbavati is famous for. Thanks also for mentioning... More

What a fantastic place. Runned by David and his Crew, they gave us a time we will never forget. A warm and nice welcom, they took so good care of us. The atmosphere at the lodge was so friendly and intimate. We loved every moment.,the trackers and the rangers really respected the animals and we felt so safe with them,... More

Wow - the team will be delighted with this review! Many thanks indeed - we like to take care of our guests in this smaller lodge and it gives all of us a great deal of pleasure to forge real friendships with our visitors rather than treating our guests in a more formal way. We like our guests to really... More

The property sits in the Timbavati private reserve, and is an eco-lodge that provides the full safari experience without the wastage of a normal luxury accommodation. The rooms are well-appointed with a comfy bed, strong water pressure, ample power points, and a nice story or chocolates every turndown. The weak fan and low light intensity took some getting used to,... More

Many thanks for your review. We are delighted that you mention that we are eco friendly as it is important to us. We are proud that we have an effective solar power system in place and whilst the ceiling fans provide some relief in extreme conditions we understand that they cannot replace air conditioning - that can be found at... From the moment we were welcomed at the lodge by David and his team, we felt like it was our own home. The rooms are very comfortable, yet are sympathetic to their natural surroundings. Food was wonderful and plentiful. The main lodge was also very comfortable, with big comfy sofas, a nice bar and a balcony overlooking the waterhole. There's... More

Wow many thanks for your wonderful review - I will definitely share this with the staff and it is very much appreciated. It is also noted that you are 'experienced' safari goers and it was not until you came to Timbavati that you had such great game viewing - and it is wonderful that you had such memorable leopard sightings.... Wow, our eight magnifisent game drives over five days could not have been better! A very hospitable and kind staff made our stay at Kambaku a memory for life for all of us. The kids loved it just as much as we did. Thaks to Gidion, Eric, Alfred and Evan for great guiding in the bush. We would all love... More

3 of our 4 adults had not experienced an African Safari, Kambaku is a perfect introduction. Google maps mislead us and another Dutch couple into thinking we could drive through Kruger NP into the Timbavati Private Reserve, you cannot so we arrived too late for the 4.30 "evening" drive. No matter, we saw Giraffes, and Elephants on drive into lodge,... More

Many thanks for your review. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay with us and enjoyed our catering, as well as the complimentary beers and soft drinks. We are proud of the fact that we are off grid and powered mainly by solar. The significance of this is that we do not have air conditioning in the rooms but... More

I just returned from a two-week holiday in South Africa traveling with my son. The absolute highlight was a four-night trip to Kambaku. From the moment, we arrived, our warm and witty host, David, made us feel that we were going to be treated very, very well. The superlatives (just about everything) are as follows. The lodge is warm and... More

This place was excellent. It's small, intimate and exceptionally communal. The staff is super friendly and attentive and spend a lot of time getting to know you. The rooms and camp premises are very clean and well taken care of. Other than the lack of air conditioning (fan instead), no TV and WIFI in the rooms the accommodations were superb.... More
