We spent 2 nights at the Lodge; everything would have been great with a great weather...but it was freezing cold, rainy and windy! No problems for the safari, we could handle that and they were great! But the lodge has refused to put gas heaters because it is not the regular season! We ended up to have dinners outside, in... more

Just back from 3 days at the camp. Seamless transfers delivered us to the lodge in time for lunch prior to our first game drive. Enjoyed 6 game drives in all, Brendon and Derek ensured we had the best view of the amazing animals. Brendon's intimate knowledge of the bush and the animals added to the experience. Back at camp... more

My travel agent recommended Chapungu when we wanted somewhere else to go with our three nights in Sabi Sands and I am so pleased that she did. We stayed there for 3 nights in September. The eight tents in the lodge are all set out to provide complete privacy. The tents are very comfortable and provide comfy beds, robes, tea... more

We had a fantastic stay at chapungu, you really feel part of the afican bush and suroundings. The tents are wonderfully romantic and relaxing, the outdoor bath was a real treat and we even had a few visits from a pair of warthogs! The staff were so friendly and helpful . The food was carefully prepared and very tasty ,they even... more

Chapungu was suggested to us by our travel agent because we wanted to stay in a tent. My initial thought was to stay in the Sabi Sands...we were very happy we followed the recommendation of our travel agent. Chapungu was amazing. We saw all of the big five (both black and white rhino) and cheetah (including babies). Eugene balanced out... more

We (a group of 6) spent 3 nights at Chapungu and we all had a wonderful time. The tents are more than we expected, clean & well sized. The meals were great, with more than enough to fill any empty stomach!! Of course you go for the game drives not for food. The game drives were so much fun. We... more

We have spent 2 nights (out of a 6 nights safari trip in SA) at Chapungu. The camp is very intimist, and we were lucky to be with only 2 other friendly guests at the same time. The tents are wide, nicely furnished, with a comfortable bathroom and an outdoor bath tub nearly in the bush. There was a king... more

We did a safari at christmas/new years starting at Elephant Plains and then going to Chapungu. When we were booking the trip there were few reviews about Chapungu so I was a little worried that the safari would not as good as Elephant Plains. On the contrary Chapungu turned out to be amazing! The rooms are wonderful, the food was... more

Chapungu was just great. Game drives - you will see everything and more. The food is great. The staff is great. The tents (rooms) are great. Now we were there when the outside temp was 105 F so the rooms were hot during the day - fortunately the pool is wonderful. What was most enjoyable was the communal setting (and... more

When you book a lodge like this in a private game reserve you are bound to go there with high expectations ... to make it short: Chapungu and the Thornybush Reserve did not disappoint us at all. From the first moment on we were made feel at home, from our welcome to our farewell, also including the game drives the... more
