This was our first safari experience and it exceeded our expectations in every way, starting from the moment we arrived and Donna, the manager, had freshly made passionfruit lemonade waiting for us, which we drank while watching nyalas at the watering hole in front of the lodge. The rooms are really casitas, very private from each other, and have the... More

To celebrate my 60th birthday as part of the holiday to SA we stayed at the Thornybush private game reserve. I can only praise everyone of the staff for their warm welcome and the way they looked after us during our 4 day stay. Nothing was too much trouble for them and was presented with a bithday cake after dinner... More

If you are looking for the best kruger experience I totally recommend a private reserve like Thornybush Main Lodge. The lodge is beautiful, the staff very friendly, the food is great and most of all the Game is totally amazing. Within my 2 night stay I saw the big 5 and was totally lucky to see an animal kill. This self catering camp is just fab and relaxing. A perfect venue for a group... Joe and his A team looked after us like rock stars. Game viewing was brilliant - we saw everything we wanted plus more! The tents are very comfortable and the pool came in handy to cool off... Can't wait to return, I can highly recommend... More

Chapungu Lodge is part of the Thornybush Group and is a delightful place to stay. Small, only eight tented cabins, and wonderfully equipped. From the decor to the food to the attitude of the staff - everything about the Chapungu Lodge is all that you could hope for. I would return in a minute! More

5 days spent in heaven. Can't fault a thing. The attention of all the staff was superb. The effort to entertain, please and surprise was never ending. Our guide and tracker, Gregg and July, found all the animals we hoped to see but in a manner we never immagined possible and the wealth of knowledge that we were able to... More

I've just spent two nights at Thornybush main lodge with my 16-year old daughter. We were warmly welcomed by Donna and team. We also met the GM, Melanie Parker. Our game ranger was Greg, and tracker July - yes July. They both took us on two game drives, the one searching for elusive leopard sighted the day before. We did... More

Stayed for 4 nights with our 8 year old daughter in a family suite. Lovely spacious room with a deck overlooking (dry) riverbed. Didn't use the plunge pool, bit cold. Early starts with max 9 to a land rover. You don't see game everywhere but you track or go to where sightings have been made. You get to look for... More
