Five star tent! With all the trimmings, great personal service, wonderful food, and very welcoming. Tents, were beautiful, peaceful, private a bit hot in the day but very comfortable beds. Games drives were out of this world, with very enthusiastic and passionate trackers and drivers.. Expectations exceeded. Congratulations to all the staff, would recommend to any family with teenagers. Even... More

My husband and I stayed at the Buffalo Camp for four nights and loved every minute of our stay! We were picked up by one of the drivers at the airport, and taken to the camp in the open air Landcruiser; we saw a few animals on the drive which was really exciting! We stayed in the Lion tent and... More

Stayed here for 5 nights for our honeymoon. It completely exceeded all of our expectations from the hospitality and friendliness of everyone working there from the moment we arrived to the sightings of the animals on the game drives (im a zookeeper and the amount of different species I saw blew me away). The staff could not have been more... More

Just got back from a 2 week trip to SA. The real highlight was Buffalo camp in Kapama reserve. From the second we got off the plane we were treated like royalty. Within 1 minute of leaving the airport you are in Kapama game reserve on the back of a land rover and viewing game! The accommodation is lovely. Luxury... More

I visited here only very briefly for a quick tour around. For the price, it is great (from now until the World Cup, the published rates are just R1950 per person per night, including all meals and morning / afternoon game drives and complimentary transfers to / from Hoedspruit Airport). The tents are great – the pictures on the Kapama... More

I had a fantastic three night stay at Kapama Buffalo Camp with my husband and some friends. We were lucky enough to see the big 5 and had some amazing game drives thanks to the efforts of our wonderful tracker Harry, and our drivers Thomas and Kobus. The 'tents' are lovely with an authentic safari feel and were kept impeccably... More

It`s a small hotel, very confortable and beatifull. The treatment that you receive there is completely exclusive. The rangers, the chef, the manager, everybody wants to make your trip an unforgetable time. The safaris are funny and the rangers are experts on what they do. When I was there I have opportunity to see all the big fives (quite easily)... More

We stayed at Buffalo Camp for 2 nights (4 game drives). After being on a tour with a large group we were very happy to stay in a small resort with only 12 other guests. (as opposed to the larger Kapama River Lodge which has about 150 guests). Tents The guest tents are very cool - just the idea of... More

Ive just got back from a 2 week holiday in South Africa wherein I took in the Kapama Game Reserve, Hermanus (for the whales and shark dives) and Capetown (general touristy must, since I was in the area) and without a doubt Kapama was the best part of the entire trip. I physically mourned for it on my flight down... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Reminiscent of a traditional African safari camp, Kapama Buffalo Camp offers a unique and intimate experience in the African bush. It is ideal for discovering big game Africa in true safari tented style without compromising on comfort.Ten luxury newly build canvas tents, each sleeping two, are set on wooden decks built on stilts over a steep-sided riverbank. Wooden walkways interconnect the rooms, which are all in the upper reaches of tall riverine trees. The river below rarely flows and antelopes are seen daily walking along the sandy riverbed. Each tented room has all the usual comforts of electricity, en-suite bathroom, safe, writing table, wardrobe, low impact climate control, mini-bar and tea/coffee facilities. The communal areas of Buffalo Camp are on the riverbank, where gardens of succulent aloes and euphorbia are tended around the thatched bar, dining room, pool terrace and campfire. But the thick African bush is just a glance away, inhabited by animals like lion, hyena and jackal whose calls can be heard in the dead of night. Lanterns, rather than electric lights, glow at night under the trees, creating a special intimate ambience particular to Buffalo Camp. With a maximum of 20 guests at Buffalo Camp, special attention is paid to personal service and the staff become like friends. Kapama Buffalo Camp is a truly authentic way to experience the African bush. ... more   less
