We had previously stayed at the Kapama southern camp and just transferred for a final night of safari to Buffalo camp. Despite a small mix up with check in and transfer times we had a fabulous stay. However the policy in the camp seems to be very strict towards courtesy beers while waiting until the rooms were ready. We paid... More

The three days at Camp Kapama were beyond spectacular. Absolutely the highlight of our trip to South Africa, Botswana, and Zimbabwe. We saw animals of every type and so close to our vehicle; right in the center of a herd of 33 elephants, watching lions have breakfast, so many memories. Ranger Joe and Tracker Foster were the best and I... More

There are not enough adjectives to describe the fabulous experience that we had at Kapama! I did not want to leave its comfort and beauty, nor did I want to stop taking the amazing safaris twice daily! My family of four loved every minute of our time here at Kapama and would love to be able to return. The tents... More

Buffalo camp was amazing. We stayed there for a week. We saw all the Big 5 and more! The staff was attentive but not intrusive. Every request was made by staff and rangers. Our room was beautiful with comfortable beds and even a hot water bottle tucked under the duvet every night. Every small detail was given attention. We had... More

I could write pages and pages about our stay at the Buffalo camp! It was absolutely amazing. It was my partner's first time in South Africa and I couldn't have been more pleased with our experience! The reception was warm and friendly. We were shown around and we were given all the information we needed to get the most out... More

As a relatively experienced "game lodger" I must recommend Kapama Buffalo Camp ! For me the food is as important as the game viewing... maybe my Belgian roots... I have lived in Johannesburg for 23 years and take business and family visitors and also myself to mostly private game lodges in South Africa. Dinner and lunch at Kapama was fantastic... More

This is officially the closest I’ve been to the wild, and I live in Africa. Kamapa’s entrance gate is 9 meters from the Hoedspruit Airport exit gate. Each new arrival gets a single ranger to greet them at the airport and get them back to camp, and you then have that ranger (and his tracker) assigned to you throughout your... More

I spent 5 nights at Buffalo Camp in the Lion Tent. The service from check in to check out was superb. Everyone was accommodating, professional, and genuinely nice. The accommodations were outstanding, with hot water bottles in my bed each and every night. Food was outstanding too as was, for me of course, a good a selection at the bar.... More

We were at Kapama for a total of 5 nights, with the first 3 nights at the buffalo camp. It was incredible, not only for the location and amenities, but also for the service and friendliness of the staff. Being up on a tented platform was a phenomenal experience, and we had monkeys running across our balcony two of the... More

We stayed at the Buffolo Camp for 4 nights just after Easter. From the warm welcome by guide Jeffrey who was waiting for us at the aiport, to our sad departure again with Jeffrey, our stay was absolutely delightful. This was our first African Safari and it delivered in every sense. The food was great and plentiful, the tents comfortable,... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Reminiscent of a traditional African safari camp, Kapama Buffalo Camp offers a unique and intimate experience in the African bush. It is ideal for discovering big game Africa in true safari tented style without compromising on comfort.Ten luxury newly build canvas tents, each sleeping two, are set on wooden decks built on stilts over a steep-sided riverbank. Wooden walkways interconnect the rooms, which are all in the upper reaches of tall riverine trees. The river below rarely flows and antelopes are seen daily walking along the sandy riverbed. Each tented room has all the usual comforts of electricity, en-suite bathroom, safe, writing table, wardrobe, low impact climate control, mini-bar and tea/coffee facilities. The communal areas of Buffalo Camp are on the riverbank, where gardens of succulent aloes and euphorbia are tended around the thatched bar, dining room, pool terrace and campfire. But the thick African bush is just a glance away, inhabited by animals like lion, hyena and jackal whose calls can be heard in the dead of night. Lanterns, rather than electric lights, glow at night under the trees, creating a special intimate ambience particular to Buffalo Camp. With a maximum of 20 guests at Buffalo Camp, special attention is paid to personal service and the staff become like friends. Kapama Buffalo Camp is a truly authentic way to experience the African bush. ... more   less
