Kapama River Lodge was the exact opposite of most people's concept of a safari bush camp. This was NOT rustic, or roughing-it by any means. This is a sophisticated, luxurious, extravagent resort. This resort can probably accomodate well over 100 people but it never felt crowded though. The common areas include open fireplaces with large sofas to relax. Between game... More

We spent 3 nights in Kapama River Lodge and really loved it. The rooms were luxurious and African style furnished. The whole lodge area was also same style and really nice. The staff was friendly and helpfull all the time. The game drives were fantastic, it was best time of the day when the game drive was about to start,... More

My fiancé and I had a 5 night safari and stayed at two different lodges. The first one was Kapama River Lodge where we stayed for two nights. Our tour operator (African Sky) had made all our arrangements for us including flights, airport pick ups and all transfers. Everything was perfectly timed and executed, not once did we worry about... We visited Kapama the year after visiting Kenya (our first experience in Africa). We were traveling with our extended family and picked a plane-based trip in South Africa over the long drives in Kenya/Tanzania due to (probably silly) concerns that the ill grandfather might get sicker and need to go back home fast. We were looking forward to share with... More

the hotel was great.. its important for anyone going here to know that its a private game reserve part of the greater kruger reserve. they have around 16000 acres of land, and have 14 lions/lionesses, 50 elephants, 50-70 giraffes. as compared to the main kruger, the number of animals they have is low. however, that said, they do have all... Just perfect. The staff taking you to the game reserve are knowledgable and understand your preferences very quickly. Super animal sightings over the four days we were here. The spa is simply stunning. Secluded and serene, it doesnt allow children. The rooms overlook the vast expanse of jungle and you will sometimes find animals come as close as below your... More

as a foreigner living in South Africa by now for about 5 years (and working in luxury tourism) I have by now seen quite some lodge here (also on a lot o private trips). However do I have to admit that Kapama River Lodge (as all the other Kapama Lodges) really offers value for money! For the traveler who wants... More

wonderful setting, welcome from staff friendly and informative. Rooms spacious, bathroom lovely. Food was varied and the service was excellent, although the evening meals in the open area were difficult to see as there was only candle light! Game drives were fun although we didn't realise that the animal population was controlled to a certain extent. Lots of giraffes but... More

If you are after African wildlife, Kapama is a great destination. This massive reserve is home to all the animals you'd ever want to see, and some very cool breeding programs for African wild dogs and cheetahs. The guides and trackers are top notch, and the accomodations were beautiful. We stayed in the lodge and weren't disappointed. Starting with tea... More

We flew to Hoedspruit which saved lots of time. Great lodges, incredible food and experienced, knowledgable safari guides. We took three children 9, 7 and 6. The staff were friendly and helpful. The safari drives great fun, saw loads of animals and they tailored them to our interests and needs.
