Thank you James and Sonjas, Liam, Thembo, Orlando and the rest of the staff at Sausage Tree. What a wonderful experience our group of six had with you while "glamping" (glamourous camping) in the Balule area of South Africa. Having tracked a pride of lions for a day and a half, seeing them cross in front of us in the... More

My husband and I were lucky guests of James and Sonjas a couple of weeks ago and we loved every aspect of their safari camp experience. Warm hospitality, beautifully appointed accommodation, fabulous guides and delicious meals and liquid accompaniments which we enjoyed with our hosts. The camp atmosphere is warm and relaxing - encouraging a great sense of connection with... More

Sausage Tree is a home away from home, being owner run you are made to feel very very welcome. The food is great, the luxury tents offer a real "safari" experience, including an outside shower and this is topped by the enthusiasm and knowledge of Liam - our ranger. i have been lucky to stay at Sausage Tree a few... That's what our guide, Liam, asked as we approached the site of a small pride of lions that had just killed an impala and were eating it (snapping leg bones as they chewed) about 10 feet from the jeep on one of our night-time game drives. (We couldn't smell it, but Liam apparently could, and that's what led him to... More

As frequent visitors to the bush (lucky us!), we are quite particular about what we like and expect, and Sausage Tree delivered well. I was curious to try it because of all the good reviews, and even though I appreciate that 'first timers' have quite different needs and expectations from regular bush-goers, the Sausage Tree team managed this balance fairly... Big five in two days, really pleasant stay. The staff is amazing at making visitors feel like home. Orlando's food, oh no. We stayed at Cape Town for 9 days after this and have a habit to value Orlando's skills compared to places we visited and yes there were good restaurants, but we just came up to that Orlando's menu... Sonja and Jason were excellent hosts and took care of our every need in the lodge, James and Liam were truly wonderful guides, and Pitso, Sebastian and Orlando delivered fantastic meals! James, you ruined our three week trip through South Africa. As our first stop, you spoiled us with your hospitality, your authentic safari experience, the unique atmosphere in the camp and in the group. You set the bar very high, some others didn't make it. Please keep doing what you are doing and ruin others' holiday as well! :) Thank... More
