This very basic place is in the middle of the bush, next door to the Manyeleti private game reserve, and linked to the local community. The negatives, as listed in earlier reviews: the chalets are very small (almost completely filled by a double bed), the water can smell terrible. Bring your own. The positives: there's a nice dog. I was on a photography tour with G Adventures in May, 2014 and part of this tour was a 3 night stay at this lodge. We arrived to the lodge just before dinner time and the two nice ladies who greeted us at the lodge were there every morning and every evening to greet us from the car (don't know... More

I stayed at the Shalati lodge for 2 nights, which was really nice. The huts are quite small, but cosy. The camp has a nice lapa where you can enjoy the fire with other guests. The food was good. The staff is friendly and professional.

We stayed here after ending a group tour here. We stayed an extra day and did a full day game drive with Hanlize. She was an excellent guide in Manyeleti Game Reserve. Paul and Mariana are wonderful hosts. They are all so kind and welcoming. Lindy made sure we were comfortable and the food is homemade, traditional South African and... More

End of March 2014 : we booked two nights but stayed four! 2 Reasons : Shalati is located at the very entrance of Manyeleti Park and the presence of Mariana, the more than kind manager of Shalati. The rather basic infrastructure (though sufficient) was more than compensated by her kindness, Always there to help, to give information or just for... More

It is basic and a little adventuruous but everything you need is there, very good beds, hot water, good food... Most of all Mariana and her assistant managers take really good care of you. Mariana is the most warm person I ever met. The lodge is near the entrance of Manyeleti Park, wich is connected with Krugerpark, but the entrance... More

Camped here while on an overland tour. The host was amazing! We ate, talked, saw traditional dancing while at the Shalati. I would love to make it back again someday. If you go please ask for a shot of "barbed wire" at the bar.

We booked Shalati through a South African web site, with scarce information and only generic pictures. Great deception when we arrived. Very basic chalets, small and uncomfortable, almost no space or furniture to open the luggage. Toilets dark and with suspicious smell (sewer) coming out from the hot water. We had to empty the hot-water tank completely and fill it... More

We stayed on Shalati's campsite as a part of an overland tour. The campsite is unique in that it's a mostly concrete sight where a restaurant once stood and that the land is leased from a local tribe and employs and provides on-the-job training for people from this tribe. The staff is great and we had our own private bar... More

The Shalati Safari Lodge is a great place to stay if you wish to spot the big 5 during game drives in the "greater Krueger national park". The lodge is located directly at the border of the Manyeleti game reserve. The lodge offers simple, but very beautiful and clean chalets with own shower and toilet witch are perfectly integrated into... More
