This lodge falls within the Top 3 Lodges we have ever stayed at and for the price I would have expected it to be head and shoulders over the opposition... it is a superb lodge... but is it my personal winner? Probably not but it could be! As some reviewers have alluded to, this is not an all inclusive lodge...... More

Rattray's is One of the very best. From your personal safety to the accommodations, & food, . My ranger Roan was one of the best I've had. But seemingly all of The Rangers at Mala Mala are very knowledgeable , and very capable to try to fulfill your wishes. I traveled with my adult son..

Rattray's is a great camp to see the Big Five and wildlife in South Africa - we were there for our honeymoon and had such a fabulous time! It was our favorite camp (of the luxury lodges we visited) not only because of the animals and wildlife we've seen but also because of the people (guides), lodging and overall experience.... More

Rattray’s at Mala Mala was highly recommended and was our favorite game reserve for accommodations and the range of wildlife we saw over the 5 safaris we were on at Mala Mala. We saw the Big Five the first day we were there plus numerous other wildlife. Wildlife was plentiful and always right next to you. Our driver/guide was superb... More

Rattrays was the last of 4 camps we visited on our recent trip and it was the perfect way to end that phase of our holiday. The accommodations were terrific but they were topped by the hospitality of the staff. Nick, our ranger outdid himself not only in our game drives but in our breakfast in the bush but our... More

Rattray's combines an elegant, beautiful 'house' (I really can't call our room a room as it was probably 2500 sq feet!) with terrific food and outstanding guides. It is expensive, but I am not sure it is out of line with the other high end places in Africa. Some reviewers/individuals seem to have issues with charges for alcohol, but we... More

We were privileged to stay at Mala Mala for six nights (September 10-16), one night at the main camp and five nights at Rattrays. The game viewing was exceptional, made very accessible and fascinating by knowledgeable and experienced guides. We were very fortunate to be paired with Joe at the main camp and Mike at Rattrays. Can't say enough about... More

My wife and I stayed at rattrays as the last leg of an 8 camp and lodge safari. At 2500 per night we were billed also for pre dinner drinks, tomato juice and maybe sundowners. All other 7 camps included drinks and on 3 occasions we got champagne and a private dinner on the last night. There are plenty of... More

Hi there While we appreciate that a number of other camps include all beverages in their tariffs, we have elected to keep our rate as a non-inclusive one. This is very clearly communicated to all clients on every confirmation voucher and on all our marketing collateral. This is also clearly stated in the “Welcome Note” placed in every guest’s room... With just 8 khayas (cottages), this is a nice small safari camp. If this were just a hotel, it would rank among the best hotels we've ever stayed. The fact that it is a safari camp really puts it over the top. My wife loved the his and her bathrooms. The veranda facing the river was huge with lots of... More

The room are fantastic and the safari the best, but they need to improve the food. Unfortunately, we ate really bad! :-( The rangers are trained, courteous, polite and fill you with attention! The lodge is clean and with attention to detail! Congratulations! I think it's the best lodge existing in South Africa!
