My wife and I selected MalaMala for our two night stay based on the recommendation of two South African friends who had both stayed there and raved about the camp. I’m glad we took their advice, because we had a spectacularly unforgettable time at MalaMala Main Camp from the moment we touched down. After 25 hours and two days of... More

Our visit to MalaMala was part of a 12-day safari that began in Capetown and included other stops in Zimbabwe to visit Victoria Falls and another safari camp. Our stay at MalaMala was the highlight of this totally amazing trip! Beautiful grounds, amazing food and helpful and friendly staff came together to make this one of the most enjoyable stays... More

This would be tough to beat! This review relates to the main camp, not Ratrays or Sable. Ratrays is up market, and Sable (alongside Main camp) is focused on smaller groups or family takeovers as there is an age restriction on children at that camp. But frankly, I am more than happy we were at the main camp. Mr Ratray... More

Wow. Jackpot. Mala Mala was incredible. I’m a convert. Nothing prepared me for the animal variety and interaction I experienced in Mala Mala. I’m a detail oriented reviewer, so here goes. GAME DRIVES - We started at 6 a.m., with a quick coffee on the veranda, then straight to the land rover. Our ranger had hot water bottles, blankets, a... More

I totally wish that I would live here. This place in incredible. We saw every animal. The leopards, lions, giraffes, and the hippos are all amazing. And their food is amazing. It is all homemade food and their breakfast has very nice pancakes. Our tour guide named Grant was the best. He was very kind and nice. Such a gentleman.... More

We just returned from South Africa. We were taking our nieces with us, and although it has been a while since we returned to Mala Mala, we decided that this would be our best game viewing opportunity. A bit of history. Starting in the mid-1990's we went to Mala Mala every year. The game viewing was always top notch and... More

Having never been on safari before I wasn't sure quite what to expect. There were so many options and so many destinations it was very hard for me to settle on one location given that I only had four days to add something on to other business in Southern Africa. I finally chose Mala Mala based on the information I... More

When you like to travel all over the world and life isn't so long to see everything, you understand that not so many places where you will arrive once again if behind you the whole world is open. It is no so much places where I would like to return. I could be there the whole eternity, go to safari... More

Mala Mala owns some of the best (and largest) land in Sabi Sands. The diversity of landscape is impressive; eye-popping even. This leads to sightings surpassed only by Londolozi. Guides are top notch. Rooms and service are impeccable. Why the caveat? When visiting a neighboring property this year, a giraffe was electrocuted and fell on the border of three properties.... More

MalaMalaGameReserve, Manager at MalaMala Main Camp, responded to this review

Hi Bruce Thank you for your review of MalaMala Game Reserve. Unfortunately the giraffe you refer to died as a result of touching the overhead power lines that serve camps within this region. The power lines are situated on the MalaMala boundary and near the major access road to MalaMala’s camps and several other camps within the Sabi Sand. We... More

Just to give you some background, my family is not the type to spend more than 4 hours doing any one thing on vacation. We usually try to see it ALL which means bouncing around a lot, so when we decided to book 3 days at Mala Mala I thought it was too much, but I could have spent the... More
