We spent 3 days of a Titan Tour of South Africa at the beautiful Mala Mala. What a start to a fantastic holiday! We enjoyed every minute at the Game Reserve and we were even awake before our morning call at 5.15am, raring to get out with our fantastic Ranger, Roan. We saw the big five many times plus so... This was about our 20th Safari trip - I'm married to a South Africna so we do go very often. Malamala is a very historic camp- in Sabi Sand Reserve- good game viewing But- I was so disappointed- it is the African equivalent of a Motel 6. From the moment you pull up you can see - it is the... More

Hi there, We were obviously disappointed to read your review. You did not mention “Rattray’s on MalaMala” (Rattray’s) where you stayed the night prior to your arrival at MalaMala Main Camp and where you had hoped to extend your stay. This was not possible as the camp was fully booked. The report back from Rattray’s management and from your ranger... More

Our family loved staying at Mala Mala Main Camp. Staff - The staff was very friendly, they really go the extra mile to meet your every need. Our guide was very nice and you could tell he really liked what he does for a living. He is very passionate about Africa's wildlife. Rooms - The rooms are very comfortable and... More

I could not have envisioned such a wonderful experience. As a first time traveler to Africa, yet a frequent traveler to Asia and Europe, this was a memorable and throughly enjoyable experience start to finish. The rooms were spacious and warmly inviting. The staff attentive and a font of knowledge. The food was wonderful and the game drives were always... More

This must rate as the very best game reserve experience we have ever had! We saw the "big 5" on two consecutive days, our game ranger Greg had a wealth of knowledge and incredible enthusiasm, the accommodation was perfect, the meals delicious and the staff amazing. A highlight was the bush breakfast which included a visiting rhino. We cannot wait... More

Once again our time at Mala Mala was exceptional - accommodation, level of service, guiding and wildlife viewing. It is probably the best place in southern Africa to view leopards amongst other large mammals.

Went 17th Sept as part of tour group and stayed 3 nights with 4 game drives. 2 early morning and 2 dusk/early evening. All you need to do is read the last 3 reviews to tell you exactly how fantastic this magic place is. My observations can only add to the overall picture. The accommodation and facilities are first class... More

It's hard to know where to begin writing impressions of this absolutely fantastic place and the ever so memorable experiences we had here. Since travelers have different priorities, I'm going to categorize as follows: (And forgive the length--once I got started, it was difficult to stop all the memories from flooding onto the page.) 1) Wildlife Viewing This was the... This was my second visit in three years, this time with friends for four nights. I wasn't disappointed. Still some of the best wildlife viewing around. A lovely setting right on the Sand River with animals crossing frequently and some resident nyala busily munching on grass in the commons area. Stayed in a suite this time -- large open space... We stayed at Mala Mala Main Camp in August 2013 as part of a National Geographic Expedition to Southern Africa. The lodge is absolutely wonderful, rooms are located through the property (just in front of the Sand River with the possibility of spotting animals while relaxing) in elegant cottages with huge bedroom, relaxing area and two bathrooms: the decor and...
