Our trip ended up not working out due to Winter Storm Goliath. It was a huge disappointment to everyone in our family but my sorrows at least were eased somewhat by an extremely understanding (under the circumstances) owner of the cabins, who allowed us a refund of the money we'd put down in advance. Because of his kindness, we will... More

We stayed in the very quaint cottage and truly enjoyed separate family room with fireplace. Kitchen was small but very well stocked and functional. Nice to spend the day in the woods or shopping and come home to cook real food and sit in front of the fireplace and unwind. The cottage has a dog run and was perfect for... More

My husband and I spent 4 nights in cabin #14. Would not recommend this specific cabin. It had safety issues as well as other problems. The heater in bathroom didn't work, the plumbing in bathroom looked like it was going to fall out of the wall, electric plug in one bedroom was burned, terrible smell throughout the cabin. Can't speak... More

Thiis is a copy of the email I recently sent to the rescent review guest. I recently became aware of your Trip Advisor review of our cabin #14. I sincerely apologize for your less than satisfactorily experience. We have owned and operated these cabins for 15 years and are very proud of our many new and repeat guests who return... More

I had reservations for three nights but left after the first night. I found the cabin to be way below my standards. The bedding was bad, quilt rough with stains, carpet dirty, freezer in fridge brown stuff all in it,couch covered with stains as well as the kitchen chairs. The pillow had no pillow protectors and there were brown and... More

Unfortunately, while I am disappointed in this review, my guest had some valid points. After refunding her unused balance, I toured the cabin with the guest who pointed out some valid issues. Without making excuses, her stay came after our last big summer Labor day weekeend and one week before our scheduled Fall deep cleaning. We have addressed all of... More

Found Ponderosa Cabins while driving through town on vacation in June. Jules set up our family of 5 in #15. The furnishings are old but the cabin was the perfect size for us and had everything we needed. What we loved the most was the trail in back of the property that you can walk down to get the the... We had a great time at Ponderosa Cabins and stayed in the Cottage, the smallest, rustic, cute and cozy cabin. The front patio is fenced so the dogs could play and bark safely. We hiked every day along the river right behind the cabin and went to the nice off leash dog park where we met lots of other dogs... More

We were a group of 14, including 4 children and 2 babies. It was our first family vacation and we wanted it to be special. It was. We had cabins 10 and 11. Cabin 11 was especially great as the gathering spot, enough room for all of us inside or out. We loved the porch! The bedrooms were a little... More

I've stayed in these cabins many times and thoroughly enjoyed my stays. The cabins feel secluded, yet are near shopping and other activities. Jules, the owner, is helpful and can steer you to the best shopping, restaurants and entertainment. Best part of any stay is enjoying the beautiful, shaded deck and listening to the sound of the rushing river near... More

We have been coming to Ponderosa for almost 20 years for our annual family reunion. We take up all the cabins for a wonderful three day get together. Everything is perfect for such a setting. There is actually no other place in Ruidoso that could accommodate us for such a gathering. The setting, some could call rustic, we call perfect... More

Stayed at Ponderosa over Memorial Weekend. We had cabin #11, which I believe is considered the "big" cabin. We had 5 people in our group, but the place could've slept more than that comfortably. There was 1 king and 4 full/queen size beds, 2 bathrooms, large living and kitchen area (with a fireplace) and an outdoor space on the porch... More
