We really enjoyed our visit here. The town is a great place to visit. We were looking for something that fit into the surroundings, and found the Ponderosa Cabins. Nice, well cared for wood cabins hidden in the trees overlooking a wooded valley. Beautiful setting. The cabins are all "originals" so it is a cabin, not the Ritz, but they... More

We were a bit nervous coming out here and were genuinely surprise. We stayed in the cottage cabin. As far as accommodations go.. It's a cabin, not a price hotel so it's quiet, home like bit simple. The staff was extremely friendly. It's warmly rustic and a great get away for two.

Maybe we just had a "bad" cabin. Cabin #14, but I feel like some updating of the bedding, etc. would make your stay much nicer. Thin sheets and rough blankets, and an old polyester spread that had patches on it where it had been "sewn up". I'm thinking bedding is pretty important for having a nice stay. It was clean,... More

Ponderosa cabins were cozy and comfortable. My family and I enjoyed it very much. We stayed 3 days and 2 nights. We didn't want to leave. Note: no a/c. We were there end of June but we still enjoyed our stay. Weather was great to sit outside by the porch even though it was hot during the day, but weather... More

It's close to the stores and it provides a place to rest when your through exploring. The inside of the cabins are what someone needs for the mountains.... More

In August of 2011 we spent a wonderful 4 days here. It's a little hard to see the entrance from the main street, but we were very happy that we did find these hidden cabins. We had everything provided to us and it was very clean and quiet. And our little dog loved it. Management was excellent and always available.... More

Stayed there with my parents just recently and I had a great experience. It was quiet and cozy. The cabins were very rustic and had everything needed. I would recommended this place to more people. Its a true hidden little gem.

There are no cabins in the woods in Ruidoso. At least I didn't see any. The cabins at Ponderoso, and other places seen along the way, start 20 to 30 yards in from the sidewalk. The woods at the top of the low mountain that constitutes the city are all intersected by roads, so that only patches of trees are... More
