Found Ponderosa Cabins while driving through town on vacation in June. Jules set up our family of 5 in #15. The furnishings are old but the cabin was the perfect size for us and had everything we needed. What we loved the most was the trail in back of the property that you can walk down to get the the... We had a great time at Ponderosa Cabins and stayed in the Cottage, the smallest, rustic, cute and cozy cabin. The front patio is fenced so the dogs could play and bark safely. We hiked every day along the river right behind the cabin and went to the nice off leash dog park where we met lots of other dogs... More

We were a group of 14, including 4 children and 2 babies. It was our first family vacation and we wanted it to be special. It was. We had cabins 10 and 11. Cabin 11 was especially great as the gathering spot, enough room for all of us inside or out. We loved the porch! The bedrooms were a little... More

I've stayed in these cabins many times and thoroughly enjoyed my stays. The cabins feel secluded, yet are near shopping and other activities. Jules, the owner, is helpful and can steer you to the best shopping, restaurants and entertainment. Best part of any stay is enjoying the beautiful, shaded deck and listening to the sound of the rushing river near... More

We have been coming to Ponderosa for almost 20 years for our annual family reunion. We take up all the cabins for a wonderful three day get together. Everything is perfect for such a setting. There is actually no other place in Ruidoso that could accommodate us for such a gathering. The setting, some could call rustic, we call perfect... More

Stayed at Ponderosa over Memorial Weekend. We had cabin #11, which I believe is considered the "big" cabin. We had 5 people in our group, but the place could've slept more than that comfortably. There was 1 king and 4 full/queen size beds, 2 bathrooms, large living and kitchen area (with a fireplace) and an outdoor space on the porch... More

We enjoyed our stay in cabin 18 but I wouldn't stay in that particular cabin in winter until the heater is fixed. We were warned it was finicky but the second night it went out and we woke to a very cold cabin. The cabin was very clean but the mattresses are very firm and seemed to be covered in... More

We stayed there for 5 days with our twin 5 year old Grandsons. Very nice and at a great price. Cabins are very cozy and clean. Jules (the owner) is very friendly and helpful and his workers give great service. Love the location too. Trail leads down to the river and downtown is nearby. Nice and secluded with a real... More

Good location, good people and great price. Centrally located, peaceful and quiet. Clean cabins accompanied with outdoor deck with charcoal grill. Also propane grills furnished. Rooms came with cable and wi-fi connection. Many golf courses nearby. Night clubs and plenty shopping and restaurants within close walking distance.

We really enjoyed our visit here. The town is a great place to visit. We were looking for something that fit into the surroundings, and found the Ponderosa Cabins. Nice, well cared for wood cabins hidden in the trees overlooking a wooded valley. Beautiful setting. The cabins are all "originals" so it is a cabin, not the Ritz, but they... More
