This isn't quite the luxury lodge the website suggests. The rooms look so bright and airy in the photos but most photos are of the bush-facing luxury rooms. The standard rooms overlooking the waterhole are disappointing. We stayed 3 nights. The individual thatched roofed rooms (ideal for bats!) are large but poorly designed, with a lot of wasted space. The... More

We stayed at Arathusa for 3 nights recently & after some issues with finding the place (very poor/non existent signage) we ended up having a great stay. The location is superb & my wife loved all the animal encounters, I am less keen on the animals so probably more objective about the overall experience. The accommodation, food & service were... At such a price ( 700€ per night ), even if the place is very nice and the luxuary rooms with a private swimmingpool great and totally isolated, there are some key details which are surprisingly missing We would have expected the welcome lunch and the safari breaks to be a little heartier We were also very disappointed as any... When rating this place, I have to take into account where we are in the world, the remoteness, and the purpose of being here. Given the price you could pay for a stay in Sabi Sands Reserve, Arathusa really does represent great value. Its small, well established with loyal staff who really care and know their stuff. From the first... More

My husband and I stayed here for three nights at the end of January. We flew Federal Air to the lodge's airstrip from Johannesburg, which was super convenient. Our guide was ready to pick us up when we arrived, and we were taken to the lodge to check in. Check in was simple; tour of the property very basic. Upon... More

The watering hole makes this lodge a prime location. Our safari experience was brilliant due to the expertise of our Sean, our ranger and his cool tracker who made for a great team. Having researched Arathusa our food expectations were high. We were sorely disappointed as were others in our party. The manager did not take this onboard when highlighted.... More

We stayed here for 3 nights on our honeymoon, and it was perfect in every way. The food was great, the staff were friendly, our room was clean and cosy and most importantly the game viewing was brilliant. We saw so many leopards, prides of lion, rhinos and more! We were there in July and it really was quite cold... More

My best friend and I stayed at this lodge in 2009 (very late review) and we had the experience of a lifetime. Our room was spacious and clean, the bed was two twins pushed together, which was ideal since I was travelling with my girlfriend, there was a large net around the bed as well plus and indoor and outdoor... Our remote lodge had all the luxuries: giant premium bedding, giant tub, plunge pool, deck with roof and lounge chairs. large sitting area with leather easy chairs, lots of floor-to-ceiling glass and screen windows to see outside, outside and inside showers, twin bathroom sinks, refrigerator and bar. And animals were all around us. An elephant rustled by our deck about... More

The roads leading there are terrible, but the place is wonderful and ranger Sean very qualified and super nice. Nice huts and good food - not quite as exclusive as Ngala, but still very good. Small infinity pool at the end of the bar overlooking the hippo pond.
