Never having been on a safari I have nothing to compare too. But Lion Sands was terrific. The team of Bianca and Ranios looked after evey detail in the field. They were extremely knowledgeable. Ranios long experience and Bianca's zoology degree made for a unique combination. We saw the big 5, experienced Lions feeding, Leopards acting like Divas and more... More

We had the most extraordinary series of safaris I could imagine. Watching a leopard hunt its game from the beginning through the kill close up (close enough to touch for one moment), and then as he ate it in a tree. An entire family of white rhinos up close. Six lionesses on the hunt walking just inches around our Land... More

Amazing! Sort of modern meets Africa decor with huge bathroom. Our cottage was one of the two larger (perhaps newer ) ones at the furtherest end of the property. We had a double shower as well as outdoor shower. There was a big deck as well. Bed faces the river, so you can leave the curtains open and often see... More

Wonderful staff, knowledgeable rangers and trackers, and luxurious rooms with private "plunge" pooL. We were awakened by our ranger each morning at 5:30 to be on the Land Rover by 6 so we could track game. Extras - coffee, red bush tea and scones on morning drives, wine and snacks at sunset on early evening drives. One afternoon, high tea in... More

This was our fourth safari in Africa. Priority is the wild life and we certainly saw our fair share of this thanks to the efforts of Nyathi and Patrick. The photos say it all. The lodge is very clean and well kept and our room was excellent. Very spacious with an inside and outside shower (always a requirement!) and a... More

Dear Mr Ploybin, Thanks for the great feedback and know that it always inspires me and the team to reach even higher! On the fishing comment I am sorry but this was clamped down on a while back by the authorities in Kruger National Park which I understand as it is a conservation area although it does not go far... Had an amazing time at River Lodge, thanks to Simon, Andrés and Mylord. We were there for 4 nights (1 at the incredible Kingston Treehouse), food and service was top notch and the experience lived up to our expectations. Having stayed previously at Ivory Lodge it's fair to say our room could have done with a little tlc re flaking... More

This part of my honeymoon was the absolute best. We stayed in Lodge 21 at the Lion Sands, Sabi Sands safari in Kruger for 3 nights in April 2015. Our driver, Dumay and our tracker Terence were extremely knowledgeable and knew where to drive us enabling us to see the big 5. The lodge was large, clean and the food... More

We travelled there in April for four nights as a honeymoon in SA and the staff in every way could not have been more friendly, helpful or knowledgeable. On arrival we had welcome notes in our room and upon returning from the evening game drives we had candles, scattered flower petals and sparking wine waiting for us. On the game... More

We used a travel agent to help us with our South Africa trip, and she continued to steer us in the direction of Lion Sands River Lodge, no matter how many other lodges we asked her about. I now see why. Our stay there was just exceptional. Incredibly gracious and unpretentious service, beautiful rooms and common areas, and delicious food.... More

We will miss it and we will return! Everyone should do it at least once. Do it at least 3 full days, and, ensure to make friends as everyone there is our friends now. If we could do it yearly, we would, and, the wilderness around this place is beyond reach. Everyone should try this experience, it was an excellent... More
