This was by far the worst place we stayed on our road trip from Austin to Northern New Mexico. It was worse than the cabin in Chama that was really a trailer home. We asked for connecting rooms, were told at check in they were CONNECTING. We have 2 children with us, a 6 yr old and 10 yr. old,... more

I stayed one night, just passing through. The room was small but clean, same with the bathroom. The carpet had been shampooed within the last day or two. The king-size bed was comfortably firm. I was on the ground floor, situated as far from the busy main drag as possible (as I had requested when I made the reservation). In... more

Don't wast your money. There are much nicer hotels around for about $20-30 more per night than the BW. I would not stay here again for the following reasons: 1. parking lot looked unsafe and room doors open directly to exterior hallway 2. bath room needed remodeling but was clean. 3. room decor was stuck in the 80's but was... more

We stayed too long at Carlsbad Caverns after watching the bat flight, so all the nearby motels were sold out. So we drove a little further out to Roswell, NM and found the Best Western El Rancho Palacio. It is centrally located on the main drag just down the street from the other Best Western. It has an exterior corridor... more

I've spent a lot of nights in low-cost motels, and the BW Palacio could be worse. But that's not much of a recommendation. The door was held together with duct tape along the bottom where the veneer was peeling away. The carpet had an interesting pattern -- which was troubling, because it was supposed to be a solid color. The... more

Our arrival experience was ok. At first glance the room was neat & clean. I was getting ready to take a shower and discovered that the bathroom window did not have a latch on it! It slid open at the slightest touch. We put a hanger in the window as a late night fix. The drain in the shower and... more

I strongly support the experience of one of the previous reviewers: The rooms themselves are a decent value-for-money, particularly when staying a single night (wouldn't necessarily want to spend several days there). The breakfast is horrible, though, with bad selection and bad quality of the stuff that's there. One more note: It does say "free internet" and that may be... more

We just spent 4 nights at the Best Western El Rancho Palacio in Roswell, NM. I was a little nervous booking this hotel after reading several bad reviews, but the dates we needed left many other hotels already sold out, so we went ahead and booked El Rancho Palacio. The room was good - AC worked well, very comfortable double... more

We got to the hotel - amidst the construction going on. The room appeared to be okay. The beds were double beds, not queens - which is difficult with small children sharing a bed. There were a lot of flies in the room, which we spent about an hour swatting at and then were afraid to open the door because... more

I liked this property. Our room was very spacious and with the usual BW amenities. I liked breakfast, too. The very friendly lady at check-in was especially nice and we enjoyed the pool and hot tub for two or three hours. There was a dog show in town so 60% of the guests were there with dogs. I was afaraid... more
