Good Points: --Very helpful and friendly management --Right in the middle of town, very convenient Criticism: --Poorly insulated rooms allowed us to hear everyone around us, above and to the sides --Hard to control temperature inside the room --Terrible beds/mattresses --In general, in a state of disrepair. Needs serious TLC!!!

We have stayed at the Ponderosa several times, twice in the last year. The staff is always friendly and willing to help out. The rooms are clean and comfortable. It is right in the middle of Red River, so walking isn't a problem. The rooms with kitchens are stocked with everything you will need. It is one of our favorite... More

We spent 3 days there during the Mardi Gras 2012 and we had a blast. Room was clean, and even if we didn't use the kitchen much, it was definitely a plus. Pretty close to the slopes (we walked to the lift house every day). We highly recommend the place.

The Pioneer Lodge is located in the center of Red River. The owner/desk clerk were extremely helpful and friendly. The 1 bedroom suite was very spacious and plenty of room for our party of three. The room was sparkling clean, and there were plenty of towels and bedding. The bed was not very comfortable, however the owner did inform my... More

The Ponderosa Lodge was wonderful for our Minister's Breakaway last week. The rooms were clean and comfotable. The office personnel went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. We stayed for three days and had a great time!

Pros: It's in Red River - nice ski town in a beautiful valley, not overly kitschy. Lodge is in a good location in center of town, walking distance to the few restaurants, skiing and the grocery store. Upstairs suites with kitchen are nice and bright. Inexpensive, and often the last hotel to be booked fully at peak times like Christmas... More
