Everything was up to par for a Holiday Inn except the whirlpool (jacuzzi, hot tub) by the pool, which was an unhealthy GREEN. Needless to say, I didn't use it, though I had been looking forward to it after a long hard day's drive. Finally, a hotel who cares enough about their customers to keep their indoor heated pool and hot tub open 24/7. We arrived at 10 p.m. and were able to take advantage of the pool and hot tub that night and the next morning before we left. The staff was very friendly, and the breakfast was great. The Holiday Inn Express in Raton is wonderful. The breakfast is as good as a 5 star hotel, and better than any other Holiday Inn Express I have stayed in. The breakfast was included in the room price, complete with the wonderful hostess that was as nice as the others have mentioned! more

Wonderful little hotel in an out-of-the-way place. We've traveled between Austin TX and Northern Colorado many times over the years -- a 2-day trip. If you have children, ask for the kids suite! Probably the best hotel in Raton. We had a minor problem with the room not being ready at 5pm (check in was 3:30), but the management made good of their offer of a sizeable financial compensation which was good, as their rates are expensive.
