Beautiful lodge, rooms, vistas with lots of elk, buffalo and deer to see. Plenty of trout fishing. Gourmet lodge food but cost of drinks was a slap in the face. With the total price; I would expect an an open bar to say the least. Overall very nice.

Visited Vermeijo with my wife, my two sons (ages 6 and 8), my niece (also 6), infant nephew, and other grownups. The park's beauty is absolutely magnificent. Every person we dealt with tried their best to help and did so with a great attitude. Our guide, Dave B., was professional, fun and extremely well informed about the Park, its operations... More

Thank you for choosing Vermejo for your family vacation this year. We appreciate your constructive comments and understand the limitations you mention in your review. Vermejo has certainly been a hunting and fishing resort for over a 100 years, and in that regard has historically catered to adults. Over the last four years, we have been working toward diversifying both... More

This was about my 5-6th visit to Vermejo. As before, although somewhat expensive I feel like I got my moneys worth. The fishing was good, although some streams were closed for rehabilitation which was a little bit disappointing. The dining as before was excellent. The staff continues to impress me with their attention and helpfulness. One day after coming back... More

I spent only two days at VPR, specifically for the fly fishing. Fishing was great as was the overall experience. I am an experienced fly fisherman ( I guided in Colorado for ten years after I retired from my day job) but wisely hired a guide for the first day. We fished Costilla Creek in the morning and early afternoon... More

I was invited to go on a trout fishing trip with a friend. This is a first class operation from the "get go". Greta fishing! Lots of big fish. Mouth watering meals with many game entres. First rate service everywhere. they have thought of everything.

Because about the only delivery of five-star poshness at VPR may come with the one-price-fits-most tariff. High, yes, but this place is unique unto itself. American West? In spades. With nearly 600,000 acres of snowy mountains, verdant vegas, tall pines at your disposal and wild life galore: herds of bison, elk, mule deer, pronghorn plus major birding ops including the... More

Thank you for the kind, yet very honest review. You are correct in mentioning our typical demographic of Texan males, one that Vermejo has hosted for half a century! We have been working diligently for the past four years at diversifying both our activities, and our guest population, while honoring our history. With this comes the need for some upgrades... More

The Elk Rut photo tour was perfect until the last day when lunch was interrupted with a presentation by the staff on the expected tipping rates. We were told it was expected that we would pay 10 - 15% of the total cost of the tour ($2,995) for the food service and housekeeping staff gratuity as well as 10 -... More

4 of us spent 3 nights in early August. The food and service was excellent. We road horses two days and the loops were pretty and some wildlife was spotted. Fishing is the main summer activity but we are not big fishermen. We hiked some and shot sporting clays. Overall a fun visit.

A 3 night stay at Costilla Lodge left me breathless, and not because it was at 10,000 feet! The cuisine was some of the best to be served in the civilized world, and the service left us feeling like we were with family. It is a must stay destination for a group of up to 16 and is worth every... More
