If you are a novice trying to learn the basics or an expert who thinks they have nothing more to learn about this elegant and finesse driven sport this is the place. The fish are there in huge numbers. Catch and release with barbless flies is the key to preserving this trout fishing heaven on earth. My fishing buddy and... More

Great place, went with my 13 year old son and he caught several quality trout over 2 days. Especially enjoyed fishing with John Gehring our guide, he worked extremely hard and got us on the fish. Thanks John. The rooms are fair, but clean. The restaurant is fine, dinner was really good on Friday night. We went with a group... More

Fisheads provided a great experience for the thirteen participants fishing the San Juan this past week. All of the guides were first class, the accommodations were nice and extremely convenient to the river, and the restaurant was very good. The owner, Chris, spends 300 days on the San Juan, so who could be a better host. Everyone had a great... More

Great experience from beginning to end. We got there late and they accommodated our really late arrival. We stayed in a room right on the river and it was great. Woke up to the ducks on the river and the sunrise over the dam. We had breakfast at the Back Cast and it was fast and as ordered. We were... More

My wife and I have stayed at fisheads 5 times. I think we've stayed there for the last time. While it's convenient, it's overpriced and under-maintained. #7 in the building by the shop has a blind that has a 6"x6" hole in it. It was there Thanksgiving 2014. It's still there, as of 6 February 2015. I specifically asked NOT... More

We arrived late in the evening so it was dark out. Next morning we were so pleasantly surprised at what a beautiful spot this lodge is located. The San Juan is at your back door. You have your own little patio looking out a beautiful skies and water and mountains. This is definitly a fishing cabin...no frills..though it does have... More

We went on a guys trip to fish the San Juan River. The hotel was clean and comfortable. The Back Cast restaurant was an added bonus the food was all good. The lodge helped us with the guides & just great friendly people involved. A return trip is in the works.

I have stayed at the "other place" at Navajo Dam, and I have to say that Fisheads FAR surpasses its neighbor across the road. The room is clean and nicely appointed, with plenty of room for all the stuff I hauled with me. The WiFi is great, as is the cable TV (I wasn't in the room much, but when... More

While not the best place in Navajo Dam, it certainly is a good 2nd choice. Rooms are clean and within walking distance of the restaurant and fly shop. Book early has there are no many rooms and it is a popular place. May be the best value for the budget conscious.

Perfect fishing lodge. Basic, clean two-man (and two-dog) room with the back (front?) porch overlooking the San Juan. Be advised that the bozo property owner across the river has installed a chain link fence on the Fishead side of the river, creating a bit of a challenge if you'd like to walk the south bank of the San Juan.
