We had a couple of days off and had always wanted to visit Ruidoso and stay at the Inn of the Mountain Gods. I was a little nervous after reading the reviews, but it was very nice. We stayed 2 nights and everyone was very friendly. The valet greeted us warmly when we drove in and helped us unload our... More

We came up from Tucson for a quick ski trip for a couple of days. We do not gamble, so pretty much avoided the Casino. The hotel people were very friendly, the rooms and surroundings are clean and bright and we enjoyed our stay. The lake looks very inviting, especially for a summer visit. There are a couple of downsides... More

We arrived late afternoon, and were greeted warmly by valet and front desk. Spent some time exploring the lovely grounds and grabbed dinner from the little kiosk by the gift shop. My little one got sick, and housekeeping quickly arrived to help us with clean up. About 5:00 AM the smoke alarm went off; woke us all from a dead... More

Think we are done with the Inn of the Mountain Gods. We are sad to come to this decision since we were married there 9 years ago and we return several times a year. After our most recent visit we realized that the staff seems to have nothing but contempt for the guests. We used to think we were just... More

We go here every couple months. The casino is small and full of smoke but its ok. The rooms are being renovated so thats a plus. The buffet is very expensive for lower class golden corral food. The zip line is over priced but super fun. Its a good local trip (about 2 hrs) but i wouldnt drive 4hrs or... More

We (Wife and I) have been wanting to visit Ruidoso for years. We just felt that a drive from South Texas was quite far. Well, I was reassigned to El Paso with my work, and now we have the great opportunity to visit on a weekly basis since we are now about 2 1/2 hours from Ruidoso. So, this Valentine's... More

Off season (off horse racing season), M-Th is best. The not so good: everything pricey and crowded from F-Sun (rooms, buffet...), lots of mud and dog stuff near lake walking area (it is still the same walking area it was 30 years ago, boggles the mind), fees for everything, it adds up but at least there is stuff to do,... Let me start by saying Ruidoso has the closest ski area to where we live so I will always stay at the Inn when skiing Ski Apache. This trip was short but not to worry. It still gave the Apache Indians ample time to be rude to us. I've grown so accustomed to their treatment over the last 30 years... More

If you are going to a concert and are planning a upscale dinner, make sure you reserve a head of time. The buffet line can be 45 minutes. Both are pricey.. Rooms are average . Book tickets through the hotel as prices are better than through Ticket Master. Underground parking is nice in bad weather.Phone service is spotty and wifi is... More
