Nothing Fancy but the price was good, small room, clean, Wifi Satellite TV Don't expect someone to be at front desk all the time or even part of the time. Motel Cafe closed. One restaurant in town and only serves breakfast. Apparently this town has seen better days in the past. But for the last 7 years it has hit... More

We needed somewhere close to the VLA as it was getting late. This is an interesting Economic Development project. Motel is old but it was clean. We had a microwave and refrigerator even if they did take up most of the bathroom counter! Bed was good and we had flat screen tv. This is more of a hunter's place to... More

I was visiting friends who have a ranch outside of "town" saw it on the web and was happy with my stay. Friendly staff. Room was small but nicely equipped with fridge, coffee pot (with coffee etc) microwave and satelite TV. Bar/package store with good food a few doors down.

An older motel that is going through some changes. Clean and comfy and a good night to recharge while traveling. Don't wait too long in the evening because most restaurants close early. Very small but nice town. I have stayed here once before and had a similar experience. I hate to use the phrase "you get what you pay for"... More

I was pretty disappointed because the other reviews indicated at least an average experience. The grounds were not clean - old food wrappers and cans laying around. The bathroom had mildew growing in the shower. And we heard some critters in the walls, or under the floors that kept us awake much of the night. However, there was a super... More

Room was dated but clean and tidy. The heater, however, barely worked. We ate dinner and breakfast in the restaurant and on both occasions we met and talked to the Marshall - a very interesting guy! The food was passable; staff friendly and helpful. All in all a motel that fits in with the quirky character of Magdalena.

Comfortable bed in clean room! AC, heat, microwave, refrig, coffee machine. Kind of retro funky! Lovely quilt on the wall. TV with movie channel. Walk to restaurant at hotel, convenience store, or quiet little bar. Quiet with a good night's sleep!

I've stayed at both motels in Magdalena. Both are old but adequately maintained. The High Country Lodge has less noisy air conditioners and provides a frig and microwave so I stay there if rooms are available. The restaurant is OK too. It just re-opened. The management was friendly and opened the restaurant an hour early to benefit a local event... More

The night manager was a slob. Sleezy with the teenage girls in the group. Best to check in during the day when it is hopefully some one else. Feels like the Bates Motel at night. Place was empty. Restaurant not open.

There is not a lot of choice in Magdalena. As so many places rich in history, modernity has pretty much passed the place by leaving quaint old buildings from a time when construction was unique and pride was taken in workmanship. The High Country Lodge is one of only a very few places for overnight accomodations. I chose a double... More
