If you really want to get a feel for the Old West but want to do it in comfort, you must stay at the Ellis Store. We were going to visit Roswell but the hotels and the town didn't look interesting. Lincoln is only a hour from Roswell so it was an easy day trip. The rooms and the entire... more

When I arrived it was very late but David, one of the owners waited up for me to show me to my room. I stayed in the old doctors' office. It was beautiful. The perfect room for the honeymoon or an anniversary. The comfortable queen size bed was full of beautiful cozy pillows. White lace hung in drapes above the... more

What a peaceful night. Just expected a good night's rest and got so much more. The best part of our 5 day road trip through NM. You must stop here! The food was wonderful and so unusual - something you would find in a big city - not in a small historic town. The hosts were so nice. more

Very nice night here to kick off a whirlwind week of touring NM. Beautiful, historic, good food, relaxing, comfortable room (Dr. James), off the beaten path. What more could you want? This was my favorite spot of an excellent week. more

Wonderful experience. Stayed in late October and the weather was crisp but the fire warmed up the room quickly. Saw lots of wildlife in the area. Dinner was a wonderful experience. It was better than our first stay during Old Lincoln celebration days. Summer was very hot, but fans made the heat bearable. Interesting little place. more

From the owners I heard a story that the house is haunted. They have had their usually supernatural happenings disembodied voices, items dissappearing and then resurfacing, but supposedly two men were sleeping in a room upstairs, when a woman entered their room whispered something to one of the men and then left without a word. When the occupants questioned the... more

We enjoyed our stay at the Ellis Store. We didn't get to see the hosts much, but they were nice and the history of Lincoln is very interesting. more

what wonderful hosts David and Jinny are. A beautiful oasis. Lush, green, flowers in bloom. The porch of the main house was a favorite with the family. The food is fabulous. A great south-west feel. I heard tales of ghosts, but never had the pleasure of actually seeing one. Don't miss this wonderful place if you're traveling to Lincoln or... more
