Great historic hotel. The hotel and many of the buildings in the town are from the early railroad era -- a period that we tend to forget in New Mexico with all our emphasis on Pueblo and Mission revival architecture. But Las Vegas is different -- this was the New Mexican of the Wild West with Billy the Kid and... more

After several trips to New Mexico we were looking for someplace different and luckily we saw an article in Budget Travel magazine that mentioned Las Vegas, NM, and the Plaza Hotel so we decided to go there and we are glad we did. Las Vegas is an interesting city full of history and hundreds of historic buildings, both commercial and... more

We recently stayed at the Las Vegas Plaza on a weekend getway. The Plaza has long been a favorite of ours, and we were pleased to see that the new rooms that they've added are in keeping with the standards of the original hotel. The service in the restaurant was quite acceptable, and I noticed some new things on the... more

The best feature: The restaurant had good, affordable breakfasts, and the Saloon seemed lively at night. The worst feature: We were put in Room 102, which has no windows, save for a window that looks into a dining room (yes, you can hear diners' conversations when you are in this room, and yes they can see into your room if... more

I would like to address your issues that you had while staying at our hotel. Yes, there are some rooms during constructions that hotels should not rent. However with only 37 rooms to rent we were full house on the day of your arrival. The room in which you were assigned is a "last Sell" room. I am sorry that...

I was a walk-in. It was an incredibly busy night, the hotel was having a wake for their beloved bartender who had just died. Seems like the entire town was there, which was a really heartwarming thing - it's rare that townspeople are as involved in a hotel. The hotel is old fashioned, very high ceilings, huge old windows, etc.... more

One of the best historic western hotels that we have stayed at. We arrived in Las Vegas late, consulted Tripadvisor on our notebook PC, and called the Plaza asking for a quiet room with queen bed for 2. We were amazed to receive a very large room with 2 queen beds for only $88 counting taxes. The hotel is lovely,... more

I've always wanted to stay at the Plaza, and was surprised to learn from their website that they accept dogs, so was quick to book it on a road trip with our 70 lb dog. The online rate looked fantastic, but we called the hotel before booking online to make certain about dog policy (if there were weight limitations, extra... more

The old hotel was surprisingly well restored, especially the rooms and lobby. The bar was a little tacky and somewhat overpriced. Using Orbitz, Travelocity, etc. would have limited my room selection and cost substantially more than calling direct. Phoning the hotel got me a single bed for ~20% less than the online sites. The only problem was the hotel staff... more

My husband and I really liked the room and the ambience, but most of the staff members were cold and unhelpful. The food in the Landmark Grill restaurant was school-cafeteria-caliber with bizarrely high prices, and the waitstaff was harried and seemed miserable. Harleys came and went below our window all evening and into the morning, which made sleep a challenge.... more

This is a nice old remolded hotel, we stayed 1 night while passing through on the way to Placitas New Mexico. We had a room on the 2nd floor, the room was nice and clean, the bed was comfortable, noise from the 3rd floor could be heard (maybe it was the ghost that lives here), during the night. The room... more
