Excellent. We booked a family room, which was plenty of space for my group of 4. Everything was clean, the beds were comfortable, the kitchen was stocked up with pots and pans, coffee, tea, and seasonings if you wanted to cook. We appreciated all the maps that are posted on the walls, they helped us plan our adventures for the next day. Not sure if a hostel is for you? Try it - you won't be sorry!

I highly recommend this hostel. The owner is a fantastic host who cares about the property and works to keep it very clean. It was so fun to talk to the other guests and learn about their cultures. It is the kind of experience you could not have at a hotel.

After a rather challenging day I was driving up to Cloudcroft to try and find a campsite. As I watched the temperatures dropping, I drove past the hostel. I walked in to find one other person already there cooking dinner which was a welcome sight to see. Stephanie soon came down to greet me and get me sorted out. She was especially accommodating considering I had no reservation and had not called before. I found the beds in the female dorm extremely comfortable, and the thermostat on the wall kept the room at a great temperature. The next morning I had plans to continue my road trip towards Carlsbad Caverns, but upon waking found myself not wanting to get out of bed. So I didn’t. I had a wonderful lazy day and Stephanie was exceptionally accommodating in this regard as well. Overall, this was one of the best, if not THE best hostel I’ve ever stayed in including numerous trips to Europe.

I cannot say enough great things about Cloudcroft Hostel! My friend and I wanted to take a trip to New Mexico, but we didn't want to break the bank. We found out about the hostel and booked immediately! We spent two great nights in the female bunk room. The bedrooms and bathrooms were super clean. Clean linens and towels were also provided. There's a great kitchen and living room area. Also, if you're heading to White Sands, there are sleds to borrow which saves the hassle of renting them elsewhere! If you're into hiking there are lots of beautiful ones in the area. Stephanie was also a fast communicator throughout our stay!

We stayed in the female 8 bed dorm. The bunks are sturdy, linens clean (you can't bring outside linens), there's lots of powerpoints and space for your belongings (although the room could use more hooks). The bathrooms are the same - as well as being well heated. Towels, hairdryer and other tools provided!! The TV is an absolute throwback but it still has netflix! Stephanie was super helpful giving us advice for our drive and what to see along the way.

We drove past this around 9pm and decided to give it a try. So glad they had room for us at the last minute! The host was friendly, and the beds were reasonably priced. The space was clean, colorful, and homey. We'd definitely stay here again.

We stayed here on a trip through New Mexico on the way to White Sands. Cloudcroft is an adorable hostel. It's clean, welcoming, and an awesome price! Perfect for travelers who need a place to stay for the night. The nearby Lincoln forest is also beautiful, and this area is ideal for star gazing since it's a little ways from town. The hostess was also very kind and accommodating even though we had not made reservations and rolled in at 9:30PM. If I'm ever back in the area, I will definitely stay here again.

We spent the evening at White Sands and stayed at the Hostel. We have not stayed at a hostel for 20 years, and this was better than we remembered! We stayed in the family room. Very clean. Recommended if you are considering a Hostel.

Nice, cozy hostel in the foothills. Everyone I met here traveling was super nice and I really felt welcome here. When I originally drove in from Albuquerque it was dark and I was really scratching my head where I had ended up, but upon daylight the next day the drive around High Rolls was gorgeous. Loved the energy and quietude, surpasses your average hotel anyday. Stephanie was very welcoming and I was able to use a mini circular sled to slide down the hills at White Sands. The design of the hostel was intentional and cozy, just clean up after yourself and you will be fine!

I was spending the night in Alamogordo heading to White Sands and wanted to find a place to stay that has some character. This hostel was definitely it! I stayed in a private room. Pros: -Stephanie is super responsive -The hostel is listed on Airbnb which makes payments/communication super easy -Stephanie is an excellent and very friendly hostess - The hostel is clean and well organized -Although it is outside the city of Almogordo, the hostel is just 15-20 miles away -Linens and towels are provided -Its quiet Cons: -Really can't think of any major cons I got a special treat and there was about a half of foot of snow in the morning when I stayed in December!
