This is a definite go for anyone who is a fan of movies, movie stars, and classic Western ambiance. Hang out for a while is the very Western lobby. Eat in the restaurant (good food and a fun, unique menu.) Go up the cool staircase to the lobby restroom, a blast from the past all by itself. Browse in the... More

We stopped because we heard about this historic landmark hotel. Movie star buffs should put this on their must-visit list. Like walking around in a museum. A vast array of signed pictures of Hollywood stars adorn the walls.

If you are looking for a five star hotel this is not it. You will be staying in the town voted "Most Patriotic" in America but you will have to be open and inquisitive to find attractions. If you're looking for Native American jewelry, this is the PLACE. Now on to the hotel, it is charming--stay in the hotel not... More

My husband and I were on a road trip through New Mexico and he found this beauty. We loved it. Yes, it's dated but the bed was super comfortable and had more than enough pillows. I did turn up the "air" (I thought) and when we came back in the room was blazing hot! I asked the front desk and... More

My 21-year-old daughter and I were on a road trip thru New Mexico and Arizona for her spring break from college. Granted, I feel lucky that any 21-year-old would want to do that with her mother. But she and I love unusual, quirky things, and this hotel is definitely in that realm, as well as being a charmer! We booked... More

You won't find many places with the history and kitschy bits and bobs as this hotel and if you're doing the 66 trip it's worth a visit. Room was very basic, no fridge, no tea/coffee or hairdryer and barely any channels on the TV had any signal but if none of that stuff bothers you, you'll be fine! Was pretty... More

Like stepping back in time. Interesting lobby and rooms named for classic film stars who were guests in their film eras. Would have enjoyed seeing the suites. We were just an overnight stay, arriving late.

Do not expect Hampton Inn or the Plaza Hotel......but this historical hotel has a charm and feel that is hard to find in 21st century travel locations. The rooms are clean, bed comfortable, TV modern, bathrooms a bit small but fine. The Internet worked fine during our stay. This is the home away from home for many actors who were... More

Don't get me wrong, I like Sedona and Santa Fe fine, but I love Gallup for it's honesty. If you are really up for a circa 1930s/early-1960's experience, stay (or at least STOP) at the El Rancho Hotel in Gallup, NM. It will not be perfect, but it will be authentic Route 66. Gallup is not Sedona or Santa Fe,... More

Loved the look of the outside as well as the inside of this hotel. And all the photographs of the famous people that stayed there was an added bonus. We stayed in the John Wayne room--very spacious room, the beds were comfortable also, but the bathroom was tight, but served it's purpose. The only drawback about this establishment was the... More
