The hotel is historic and the decoration is interesting. Hardly you would find their furniture elsewhere. Each room has the name of an artist like, Doris Day, Lucille Ball, John Hudson etc. The carpets need some renovation, but is a finding in the region. The restaurant has many options, some of them regional.

When we arrived here yesterday after a long road trip and feeling kind of exhausted we were not sure if this was really the right place for us when checking in. It felt a little bit like tourist trap in the arrival hall. But maybe due to the fact that we just came out of wonderful nature and seen the... More

My wife and I have just returned from riding a Harley the length of old Route 66 (insofar as it exists/was possible) and we stayed 1 night here. What a unique place. Such a pleasant change from the 'plastic' Holiday Inns, Crowne Plaza, Hiltons, et al. Real character, even if certain bits did not work as they might - a... More

Loved the vintage feel of the place, and the Old West atmosphere, including a lobby that begs to have socializing. The rooms aren't fancy, but the whole place feels like a step back in time and is great for a night. Stopped on our way to the Painted Desert, perfect resting spot from Albuquerque. We had dinner and breakfast in... More

We had a great lunch on our Route 66 trip through Gallup. Service was great and the food was just fine for lunch. The property is a must see on your visit to Gallup. Lots of history and a great bunch of old movie star photos on the second floor lobby. So many old movies were filmed in the area... More

Most travelers who stay at the El Rancho know it is a rather historic place located along Route 66. It is not for travelers who are looking for modern conveniences, or luxury accommodations. El Rancho is a throw back to an earlier time which includes simple amenities, a nice dining room with very good food and excellent service and an... More

We recently stayed at the El Rancho and came away feeling that although it was an interesting place to visit we would not return. Most of the many hotel chains in Gallup were priced between $40 and $65 per night and offered numerous amenities such as free breakfast, pool, Wi-Fi, etc. We paid $120 for a room that was small... The 1 star is ONLY for the foyer, which is truly magnificent. From there it falls apart. I am positive there ware some lovely rooms, but unfortunately ours was not one of them. 2 king rooms had been booked and despite phoning on the morning of our arrival to ensure close proximity, we were floors apart. Their excuse was "people... More

Our family of four stayed in the Mae West room. The hotel is well preserved and highlights their celebrity lineage. And that is what you come here for. You can walk around the second floor deck to see all of the Old Hollywood photos which feature so many actors and actresses from the day. We enjoyed pointing out the celebrities... More
