I stayed at this hotel with a group of friends. I booked this hotel due to the history behind it and the fact it is a Route 66 icon. While the premises was spectacular it sadly lacked a lot of comforts which could easily be supplied without effort. The premises might be old but they did not supply hair dryers,... More

Terrible all-around. It took 20 minutes to check in as the clerk kept taking breaks to talk to his friends. I pre-booked a king suite and upon arrival I was downgraded to a tiny double room on a floor that was under construction. The clerk discounted the room by $2 for the inconvenience. Later, I tried to get an extra... More

the hotel is a historic landmark of route 66, so you have to bare this in mind when you stay here the rooms are very small and the beds equally small and uncomfortable, the hotel lobby is well maintained and from a bygone age, but very interesting as well, breakfast was not complimentary but very good. I leave the check... More

We did not stay in the extremely nice historically accurate main building. We were only sleeping and leaving the next morning, so we stayed in the part next door. It was charmingly vintage and clean. We really got a kick out of the old fixtures. The man who checked us in was one of the friendliest people we encountered on... More

My review is about the restaurant only. We were staying nearby at an RV park and this historic hotel/ restaurant was highly recommended. We like to find local favorites- even though this is a historic site- it is also a local favorite. We drove through the town of Gallup, it looks just like Radiator Springs from the Car's movie! It's... More

Ok the motel is cheaper than the hotel, its clean and nice with one exception, the AC sucks. It blows air but not cold air. The only cool air is when you open the door at night. The hotel lobby is really nice, the gift shop highly overpriced. I did not eat in the restaurant.

Pros: interesting history and decor, nice enough rooms, dog-friendly Cons: questionable neighborhood, tiny & poorly designed bathroom, not the friendliest staff (though they were accommodating). Bottom line : I don't know what other options are in the area (particularly if you are traveling with pets), but I wouldn't go out of my way to stay here again. It met my... More

We walked into the beautiful lobby, and were promptly checked in by friendly staff. The front desk provided an operator for the elevator to our third floor Lee Remick Room. The room itself was quite spacious, although the bathroom was small. We even discovered a Murphy bed in the wall! We did open windows for ventilation (in early May, and... More

Very nice and clean rooms, friendly staff. We had breakfast at The restaurant and it was delicious, the offer breakfast, lunch and dinner. They also have a bar area. Very close to hwy 40, very easy access. The rooms are somewhat dated but with character, The hotel was built in 1937 and has a very interesting history. It is worth... More

We stopped at the El Rancho as part of a motorcycle trip due to the history. We waited 10+ min in the admittedly beautiful lobby to check in with one person already being checked in ahead of us. The clerk was very slow and obviously incapable of doing more than one thing completely before even entertaining the idea of doing... More
