We had decided to choose this hotel because this is an historic one on Route 66. This really is, in fact. So it's funny to stay there, above all because each room has the name of an actor/actress. Take some time to visit the corridors over the patio to see the pictures of everyone who stayed there. You should be... More

We have stayed in this hotel a couple of times. The latest time we left without staying. We reserved a suite or double room. Stopped by to check reservation on our way through Gallup and look at the room and confirmed a late check in. A couple of days later when we returned, our room had been given to someone... More

Movie stars stayed here..in the golden age of westerns. The staff was friendly enough and the grand foyer is fabulous and filled with memorabilia. All the room doors have a movie star's name on them to signify they actually stayed in that room. We chose the Presidential Suite. It was Ronald Reagan's room way back when and had a connecting... My family and I had stayed here decades ago and found it historic and interesting in terms of movie and western culture. When we went out west with my husband's sister and her husband, a western movie buff, we decided he would love this place. Unfortunately, they have done NO updates since before we were there last--maybe since the movie... More

We were doing Route 66 and all the books suggest going here. We stayed here for one night. The lobby/entrance is fairly impressive if not abit old fashioned but that is where you should remain. The rooms are old fashioned and tatty and I appreciate that the hotel has an older historic theme however.....! The furniture in the rooms is... More

The main reason to stay at The El Rancho Hotel & Motel is the kitsch. As you enter the lobby you are bombarded with so much to look at. I literally just stood there for a few minutes slowly scanning the room. It is a fun place to visit. There is a restaurant and a bar connected to the hotel.... More

July 30-one night. Stayed at this historical hotel for a change but it wasn't at all worth it. We normally stay at the LaQuinta on the East side of town facing the railroad. They had no rooms available on the front, no wall plugs to plug in cell phone or tablet, the views were terrible. We looked outside one window... More

My wife and I stay at the El Rancho (this is the fifth time) because it is a grand belledame of an inn, a throwback to the 1940s and 50s when movie stars were movie stars and film crews shooting oaters in Monument Valley used it as a headquarters. The signed photographs on the second-floor balcony come from, well, another... More

Great place to stop on Route 66, like a step back in time. Great entrance with double stair case and loads of old movie star photos. Lunch menu had a American /Mexican feel with a lot of the main courses named after the movie stars. I had a Burt burger!

We called in on the off chance that there might be a vacancy, and we were lucky! We were in the Katherine Hepburn room, and were told she had stayed there! I can't imagine she used the tiny bathroom, but perhaps I'm wrong!! The receptionist was cheerful and helpful, and the room was clean and comfy. We felt we had... More
