My husband, young daughter and I checked in late one night after coming to Cloudcroft to camp, but failing to check the weather first. Room rates were reasonable and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. They also allowed us to have our dog as well, which was a bonus since we hadn't planned on having to stay in a... More

It wasn't a mansion it wasn't a castle but it was a very nice place to stay the fireplace made the difference. Let's not worry about all the little things enjoy yourself have fun while you're here!! If you want more then stay somewhere else.

The room stinks of smoke. There is a sign over the toilet telling you to use the trashcan to fill water into the pot to flush. There are 6 rooms & parking for about 10 vehicles but for some reason there are over 20 vehicles parked here, double parked into the street. We had to park next door at the... More

Thank goodness for the alta vista motel. I was in town for work and needed an inexpensive place to stay. I stay in lots of off the beaten path mom and pop motels. All I need is a clean comfortable room. A few perks like refrig micro and ambiance are always nice. When I made plans to stay in cloudcroft... More

I reserved a room for several nights during hunting season. I was lucky enough to get a permit for deer that hadn't been claimed in the first drawing, and I felt good about the weather, which was cold and a bit snowy. I called to let the owner know what time I'd be arriving, and she told me to call... More

It is true that it was late at night when they came &asked for prices. Then talked about it for 10 to 15 minutes before returning to rent room. There were 7 or 8 & they wanted to all stay together so I put them in a large room with 4beds. I was not rude to them. I am used... More

If you're not particular about accomodations and a roof is all you need over your head, this place is one of the few in town unless the old Alpine Motel has reopened. If you're looking for the plushness and style and comforts of modern "chain" motels, the nearest ones are in Alamogordo, which is where we'll stay next time.

I have spent numerous nights/weekends at the Alta Vista. Besides the property having a personality, the Young lady (Camy) is a real charmer. She & her whole family will do whatever it takes to make your stay comfortable. I will MOST certainly make return visits!!!! Keep up the good work, young lady!!!
