This motel is closed due to Fire Damage and lack of business. I was in Cimarron last week and was hoping it had improved. There is a fence across the property and the west side and office have burned down. back in the 60's and 70's this was a nice place and had great food. But from what I have... More

The place is a mess. The door to our room appeared to have been pried or kicked in several times and the dead bolt wouldn't lock. The portable air conditioner was duct taped poorly to a window that wouldn't lock. We had a very unpleasant and uncomfortable stay.

A group of two families was traveling together. We stayed at the Canyon Inn. The room I stayed in had no air conditioning; the other family we were traveling with had a portable air conditioner in their room so we kept the door between the rooms open to get some air. As it turned out, the door between our rooms... More

We planned to call both similarly named low-priced motels in town (Canyon Inn and Cimarron Inn) to verify which one held our reservation; the staff at... More

We started going to the Kit Carson in 1996 and it was in pretty good shape. The rooms are pretty large for a budget priced hotel and they have a few amenities like a coffee pot. As the years passed we noticed that the rooms were getting more and more rundown and they didn't seem to be doing any updating.... More

The Kit Carson Inn is accomodating and nice. The rooms are the best in town and the staff is very friendly. The restaurant is outstanding with the best New Mexican food in the area. Particularly the Stuffy's is great. Sammy is the manager and always has a minute to talk to us.
