Our family of two parents and 4 kids stayed here while visiting our son who was working at Philmont. This is an old hotel with lots of history. The rooms are comfortable but have antique furnishings. The lobby makes you feel like you've stepped into an old western movie. It's rumored to be haunted and one room is kept locked... More

Really cool old hotel. Old West lobby, artifacts, pictures, stories, etc. Bar and restaurant adjoining Hotel Lobby, that was good too. You will like the feel of this place and it is clearly the top accommodation in Cimarrom (there ARE NOT very many hotel rooms in this little town and almost all of them are filled by Philmont visitors and... Awesome atmosphere. The staff is excellent and the food is better. If you find yourself anywhere near Cimarron and have the time, definitely stop at the St. James. You won't regret it. Enjoy anything from pizza to fine steak in a serene, historic atmosphere.

While the hotel was interesting and quite historic, we only stopped by to dine. After 2.5 hrs we were done with lunch. Everything went wrong from the 30 min wait (not very crowded), to the food they were out of (didn't know until after we ordered it), to the incredible long wait for the food (simple Mexican food and chicken... We are so very sorry to hear that you did not have a good experience while you were here. At times the resturant does not look busy but there are large groups dining which can cause a wait. It being our busy time of year we do tend to get overwhelmed, we do very much apologize for your visit here... More

Wonderful old west hotel. We especially liked the furnishings and the hotel is kept to the style of it's old west hey day as much as possible. The staff are outstanding, every single one of them and we were amazed at how incredibly clean the hotel is and especially considering the building is over 130 years old! I liked the... More

My family stayed here 3 nights. We had rooms in both parts of the hotel. I have to say the old haunted side was quaint and you felt like you travelled back in time! The old side has large windows and fans for air conditioning. The newer side had real a/c and a tv. I preferred the original hotel, plus... More

We loved it and would stay again but probably in a different room. We stayed in the William Cody room, a beautiful room on the second floor, but with windows open in the summer there is significant road noise. Who knew there would be so much traffic in tiny Cimarron? The noise did not bother my husband, only me. The... More

We are glad you enjoyed your visit here. We do enjoy the patio area plenty, we are sorry the wait staff has not been moved outside yet, we are working on that situation, hopefully by next summer we will have it to where you will get service on the patio, it is a work in progress, we do however serve... My wife and I had eaten here before, but had never spent the night. We booked the William Cody room for one night and are very glad we did. If you are a lover if history, this is the place for you. Many of the desperadoes who travelled the Santa Fe Trail spent some time here. The bullet holes in... More

Spending a night at the St. James is like spending a night in "Gunsmoke", the iconic TV show. The St. James is an authentic 1860s hotel which hosted Buffalo Bill, Annie Oakley, the brothers Earp, Jesse James, Clay Allison and just about every other iconic figure, famous and infamous, of the Wild West. The many bullet holes in the tin... More
