There is no proper partition with the shower and the toilet, there is a curtain, so water was splashed everywhere. The bed has a heating pad, needed that cos it was so cold. The room is huge, there is a divider curtain between the 2 beds. Note : No hairdryer.

Dochula Resort is not a customary lodging stop along the Thimphu to Punakha/Wangdue drive, and it's a little tired and old. But an overnight is highly recommended as the views out to the Himalayas from the hotel can be breath-taking, as well as it's close proximity to the Pass (a ten minute walk/two minute drive) for a memorable, solitary, early... I stayed at Dochula resort on my recent trip to Bhutan. I was backpacking and hence had the luxury to chart out my own plan. If you are guided, you may not have the luxury of staying here as this may not be on the standard itinerary - it will most probably be a transit for breakfast on your way... More

We had a change in plans and therefore had to stay at the Dochula Resort. I read some of the 1 star reviews on TripAdvisor, and frankly, was a little wary of the place. However, having stayed there, I have to confess that in my view that 1-star review was a little too harsh. There were no elevators, but the... More

The location is at the top of the world, in the middle of the sky; mind-blowing. My husband loved it; I was lukewarm towards it. If you want wonderful scenic view, if you want to be engulfed in the serenity of silence and solitude, then this is the place. Amenities are very basic; steep staircase taking you upto the room;... I don't know where to start...we got stuck staying here after a last minute change in our itinerary and this was all that was available. We had some hopes after we saw the beautiful surroundings which made for some pretty amazing pictures. But that's pretty much as good as it got when it came to this stay. The inside is... More

The location is beautiful! With weather cooperation you will get to see the high peaks of Himalayas. The hotel has nice location and the dinning room with a small stove is large and pleasant. Quite shocking was the overwhelming and persistent smell of decaying fish in the entire lower level. That really needs getting used to. Might have been some... More

My sole purpose of staying overnight here was to see the sunrise at Dochu La the following day. Unfortunately, it was extremely cloudy and the weather forecast called for more of the same for a couple more days.. But the hotel itself is nice and the staff are charming and very helpful. My room was HUGE: it could have fit... More

Lonely Planet refers to this as a Hotel & I think this is an important distinction otherwise readers might have unrealistic expectations. Having said this, I really liked this place. We stopped briefly here for a cup of tea & biscuits on our way to Punakha (where we stayed at Hotel Zangto Pelri which I thought was quite ordinary -... More
