The lodge is in a quiet location (except for the occasional, unavoidable barking of dogs) but within walking distance of the center of town, and also very close to a dzong that is well worth visiting, albeit not as spectacular as the ones in Punakha and Trongsa. Comfortable room and bed; bathroom a bit dark and small, but perfectly adequate.... More

Our experience of this place has been very good. Me and my friend were on a bike trip to Bhutan and stayed 2 days at this place. We reached this place after getting a little lost in a sudden hail storm . Manager Nima to our surprise himself came out in the rain to receive us when we reached the... More

Located in the Village, not the town, this hotel is in a quiet location (there's always the ubiquitous Bhutan dog chorus every morning!). Restaurant above average, but stubbornly traditional food is served, with limited variety. Rooms are pleasant, especially those with small enclosed balconies. TIP: ask for an upstairs room for better views. Notwithstanding the above, the genius who designed... More

Hi Let me tell you this on our 14 day stay in Bhutan we stayed in Jakar Village Lodge for 4 days. Nima and his grandfather Mr Dasho who owns the place were the most helpful and informative people in our entire trip. Gave us a lot of guidance. Even the staff were always helpful. The word NO was not... More

Decent location with views of the Jakar Valley. It is located within a 10 minute walk of the Jakar Dzong, and 20 minutes to the center of town. The staff were very friendly, and the rooms were decent. No TV located in the rooms, but there is a TV located in the reception area. We found hairs in the food... More

We spent 3 nights here and have few complaints. While the dining room was a bit cold, the wood fire was cheery and all were seated near it. Breakfast was very good ... not the run of the mill English boarding school breakfasts one gets in Bhutan. The staff was very friendly. We had pleasant conversations with the owner. This... More

My husband works in Bhutan and we recently spent 15 days travelling the country with his company driver and vehicle. We were exempt from paying the daily $250 tourist fee and were able to book accommodation and eat in local restaurants as we pleased. The Jakar Village Lodge was not only the most expensive hotel we stayed in on this... More

We stayed at Jakar Village Lodge for 2 nights in September 2012. Run by a friendly couple with infectious good cheer and energy, this was one of our favorite accommodations in Bhutan. The first night we stayed in a room on the ground floor that was dark and dank. But for the next two nights we moved to a spacious... More

Stayed in Jakar Village Lodge for 3 nights while on a festival tour in Bhutan this Fall. Of all the places we stayed, this was the most comfortable and pleasant. What was outstanding was the staff who attended to some sick travelers in our group without taking attention away from their other guests and responsibilities. I did have some laundry... More

We stayed here for 3 nights, 18th - 21st Jun 2012, and we absolutely loved the place. The rooms are spacious and the bed is comfortable, and I especially like the small balcony with the swing. There is no TV in the room, but it is no issue at all, since Wifi is available in the lobby and in the... More
